Well Max certainly appears to be unstoppable. Will he pull a 30 second gap again or will AM & MB keep things tighter as they did in Canada? Stay tuned.
If tighter you mean a 6 second lead to number 2 I don’t think Max has anything to worry about. If they start making end roads and we see that get kicked down then it’ll make it interesting but my money is on RB winning everything till ā€˜26

I don't think the gap was that large in CAN because it didn't have to be. Six or 30 seconds, the effect is the same. Max probably slept through most of it.

I was reviewing the attached this morning. To give one a sense where RB is in relation to others: the floors, from Monaco. While MB and Ferrari are similar in overall design, the RB is running a more advanced, asymmetric floor.

To paraphrase LH's comments earlier, it's not what RB is doing this season. 2023 is all but over. RB is spending resources on future years while everyone else is still focusing on the next race.

"Yes, they are raceable. The first sector could be tricky but apart from that it's OK."

"In the first sector, generally we can see much more difference compared to other sectors because already sector 2 and 3 are in line with the lap times with the blankets, so it's just a matter of managing the first few corners."

"You need to change the way you are driving in the first lap, you have to adapt the driving style to protect the tyres..."

-- Pirelli, on 2024 tire compounds which won't use warming blankets

In my mind F1 has always meant racing in Europe. I get the expansion, of course, as it’s good for business. But not at the expense of the classics. There should be a yearly German GP and Hockenheim is a great track.
No need to forego any tracks. My sources say that even after there are 52 Sunday races in a season, there are plans for Monday and Thursday night F1. Dennis Miller coming out of retirement for that.

Hundred percent agree with you here. Cota is a proper F1 track and up there with any European track, the disneyland street stuff(couple exceptions) especial here Iā€˜m not a fan of for the most part. One of the things with purpose built tracks as a fan you can walk the entire circuit. With the street stuff your basically assigned to a zone, not a fan of that at all.

I can see where you’re coming from. I like street circuits because it’s a different mindset. Everything is a lot tighter so the smallest mistake can mean that you’re out of the race. They are not as ā€œtechnicalā€ per say as a proper F1 track, but they are technical in their own way. You also have to have a certain tenacity to go out on a street circuit and attack it.

Edit: except for Monaco that’s an ancient street circuit that nothing happens from beginning of the race to the end. If you’re not changing position because of tire strategy you’re not changing positions period. That’s the one street circuit that definitely needs changing.

The one big exception for me is Singapore. I really like that street circuit. I agree on Monaco. I get the history and nostalgia( I like it to) but the actual race part is lacking for sure but I’m not sure how that should be addressed. That said I don’t think that’ll ever happen regardless, Monaco is for sure a cash cow of an event.

The ā€˜26 cars are supposed to be lighter and hopefully smaller. I agree, I have no clue how they will change Monaco since you’re right that it’s their cash cow. But something needs to be done. I’m to the point where I don’t even want to watch it anymore just read about it. Not even watch highlight reels because there are no highlights šŸ˜‚.

Lol, I kind of do the same. But I do supplement it with Indy and WEC whenever I can. And Motogp of course as well.

Anyone else remember the Secret Diary of Adrian Newey?

I had downloaded as they were published on itv-f1.com about 20 years ago. Pretty funny but you have to know a lot about the behind the scenes stuff at Mclaren to get most of the jokes. I can post them, if anyone is interested.
