Dude, buy what you want, they have a warranty.
Why do people think the word "warranty" saves everything? You really think forgestar or anyone else is going to warranty if your wheel blows up and you flip of the track? Sure they warranty the wheel, but what about the thousands in damages to the vehicle?

You get what you pay for, it's simple as that.

This guy saved 2k to now spend 3k to get his front end fixed.

Bridgestone marketing department be like "Your rotary forged wheels will snap in half before our RE71Rs break traction"

But seriously, I do want a set of those bad boys.

The tires, that is.

I'm going to assume that 90% of the people here will never see track time because that's about the ratio on almost any "enthusiast" forum. This is not my first rodeo. And well if you're going the track, you should have the pre conceived notion that you could wreck your car. Aftermarket wheels or not. Bottom line is you should inspect your vehicle thoroughly before you hit a track day.

If i May come in once more Gents and just do a few statements.

Any wheel can fail on a track, cast up to forged. I have seen HRE, Advan, ADV1 fail on tracks via bends and such that still is a failure of the wheel.

Now that being said when someone is going to track a car they need to be prepared for what may occur since a track pushes a car and its parts to the ultimate peak of endurance.

Also out of every single Forgestar wheel I have sold and setup I have only had 2 issues.

1. was a finish issue
2. was a caliper to inner barrel issue

And yes a majority of the guys I setup mustang and or otherwise have used or will use on a some sort of hard driving event.

I stand neutral on a lot of things since it helps for me to just provide details but in this case Ill give my personal opinion, I would track on Forgestar wheels they have been a round for 10 yrs and for obvious reasons well priced durable wheels.

In all my years around cars, I have never seen, or known anyone who has seen, a wheel failure like the one in the video. A cracked spoke, a bent rim, sure - but never once a wheel just giving up the ghost like that. It seems to be a pretty major outlier.

What wheels do you recommend for track days? And what are they priced at?
Volk Racing Wheels they make some of the best fully forged wheels that you can buy.

They are typically in the 3000 range depending on size.

I've seen wheels fail like this in the past at the track. Majority of them are really old race wheels. For example: CCW Classics that are still floating around from the late 90's develop cracks like those posted in this thread. Most people catch it before a catastrophic failure though. CCW changed their process mid 2000's I believe so the wheels are supposed to last longer (as if 15 years of track abuse isn't enough).

It's good to see stories like this. Another data point for us consumers.

While almost any rim "may fail", its the manner in which some non forged rims fail... they do not bend, they fracture or the lip tears away from the barrel.

+1 for volks being some of the best rims money can buy at a very reasonable price point.

A wheel failed and thats okay. As we can see from the video, the guy drives a pretty modded s2000 and claimed to been on 15ish track days. Yeah the wheel failed and other brand might fail as well.

I don't think its fair to bash forgestar like this tho...
