OK to I guess your already running 3.3 or 3.4 if you ran the unofficial update. It will be interesting to see what the maps version is.

Yeah it asked for the sync version number first before the download would start and when I typed it in it said it was the latest version of sync. I bought the car Dec 3rd and I think the car rolled off the line on Sept 19th because it has the original Ford oil change sticker showing Dec 19th as the first date to change the oil and I think they go from the date the oil was put in the car then 3 months out but that's pure speculation on my part

Sorry you're right that's what it asked for was the ESN. Will you keep this thread updated as to how and how long it takes to do the update when you get it plugged into your car? Its 30° outside right now and sleeting and even with my car in the garage I'm not to keen on sitting outside for an hour doing a map update lol

Electronic serial number

I'm not in my car so going from memory but go the cars display push settings at the bottom right then scroll over to general then press about then it will be at the very bottom it will say SYNC serial number

Interestingly, that screen gave me the wrong number for my car. I had to call Ford and have them give the the completely different actual number for my car.

Well finally got everything to download on my Mac. The Sync file unzipped with no problems and the USB drive is loaded and ready to go. Will take it out tomorrow morning and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Ok awesome. Hopefully it uploads to the SYNC software quickly so I don't have to sit in the car at idle for an hour lol

Looks like about 45 minutes. Will take the car out for an early morning drive if it is not raining.

Well I ended up doing some more research and if you have wifi hotspot built into the car, which I have the 4G wifi antenna, then you can make a couple settings changes and it will automatically do these map updates and other updates without needing to download anything. Also if it I'd say partially done with the update next time the car is within range of a wifi then it will start download where it left off
