Wouldn't want the job even if I was eligible. Ironically, I don't want anyone in the office who DOES want to be there. If you want to be president, you shouldn't be president.
Very much this.

Well if 1% legitimately worry that one wrong move means that their lives are in real danger, we'd be fools not to listen.
I'm not personally in a group that is statistically more likely to be at risk of police violence but I know, care about, and respect plenty of people who are. It's no joke.
Although I’m speaking to a political climate, not law enforcement. I believe law enforcement should be funded towards having more training of how to be better equipped to handle different situations. Ultimately, it comes down to respect, on both sides.

I'll drop my opinion right quick.

Police should not be hiring many military vets, and virtually zero combat vets, at least for any street/beat cop or first responder position.

To make this (more) political, why is it that all of the places with the biggest issues are places that have been all or mostly democrat mayor run for many decades?

OOohh... you so badly want this to confirm your bias!

How about this one! Why is it that all of the welfare states (the ones that take more federal dollars than they contribute) are Republican controlled states?

There all kinds of unflattering correlations that you can find if you really want to make this an "us versus them" debate. In reality, there are reasons for all of it that doesn't come down to one tribe being superior to another. Get over it.

The sooner we start seeing each other as all playing for the same team and respecting differences, the better off we'll be. Our whole country has this problem right now and it's sad and dangerous.

Quite a number of reasons. lets look at farm subsidies for a quick one. Because that is a BIG one. and the reason is because everyone is taxed to pay for farm subsidies, so that you are paying less at the grocery store. If farm subsidies were eliminated, and food prices adjusted accordingly, then a large number of red states, including my own, Louisiana, would fall off the list of being a 'taker' vs a 'giver'.

the 5 states that have the largest per capita SS beneficiaries are West VA, Miss, Kent, Louisiana, and Ark.

Most of the major port cities are in 'blue' states. the three largest ports, NJ, NY, CA, account for 46% of imports. The federal tariffs these states collect and send off to DC skew the numbers widely as well.

As for the 'Us vs them' thing, maybe you should go read a few of my previous posts. I have posted my hopes that everyone realize that we are not each others enemies, that we have the same damn enemy. And those enemies are the politicians, and the people behind the curtain pulling their strings.

What I was pointing out with my question, is that people are mad at the WRONG DAMN GROUP. They should be mad at the politicians who are purposely sowing division to keep us from uniting against them. But, you just had to jump the gun there didn't you?

Quite a number of reasons....
Wait we're answering these now...so did you actually want an answer to your question about "states with the biggest issues (because democrats are morons, wink wink wink...)"

Yours is an obviously leading question which is titanically boneheaded for about ten reasons that I can think of off the top of my head... My question was supposed to be the equivalent! Sorry if I wasn't obvious enough about that. Lefties throw that welfare state thing around to beat up on conservatives all the time and it's just as stupid as your "question." Don't even start, please.

...

You couldn't be more wrong about that. The politicians ARE us. Run for office! Find a candidate you like and donate or work for their campaign. It's pretty simple.

If you are talking about politicians who do dirty things hide corrupt practices, kiss the butt of Russian dictators, fail to take action on credible threat to our troops, try to divide us along race and religious lines...well there is only one guy who is doing that right now and some of you guys love his flabby butt. It's not all politicians who do this.

I disagree again. The problem is abuse of power. It's not any one group. This can happen in the workplace, in a marriage, in the whitehouse, on Jeffrey Epstein's private island...or in the street where a police officer ignores a man begging for his life 18 times. They're all evil.

The last one is the example that is getting the heat right now. One thing at a time.

3 pages of thoughtful, civil and rational discussion with very few “blame the left” sentiments. It’s like I’ve stumbled on an alternate universe where the rational, moderate and articulate Americans are the majority. I like it. A lot.

If you're white you are. Statistically more cops shoot whites. More blacks shoot blacks than cops shoot blacks. Maybe that 1% can focus on some real threats to just walking down the street in Chicago for example.

Officers are spread pretty thin and often wear many hats while in performance of an often thankless job. And like any job, there are always bad apples. Remember, they’re only human beings. It’s always important to remember that one bad apples DOES NOT spoil the bunch.

I see some of you talking about how the thin blue line is some BS that’s somehow protecting the bad cops from being prosecuted and that’s a load of crap. The thin blue line is representative of the line between Peace/ order and chaos. Also, police officers don’t often publicly speak out against anyone whether it’s another officer or political subject matter. They don’t have the luxury of that kind of freedom of speech. Especially if it’s a criminal matter as it could derail a legitimate case of an officer violating someone’s civil rights.

In response to the whole “police departments shouldn’t have military gear”, all that stuff granted to them by the federal government through special programs. Those programs help underfunded departments get protective equipment for officers who would otherwise be without, at no cost to the city/county.

Politics aside, there needs to be some criminal justice reform and they can start by not letting violent offenders walk on their charges.

I understand what the actual quote is, and it’s BS. If we took that outlook/approach to all groups we’d all be bigots, racists, and prejudiced assholes.

Aren't we? Collectively people are terrible. We can only try to be better. The departments of this country need to do a lot of trying.

Yep. We can only hope it's reflected in the voting this fall. :sun:

And, of course, this is very much in line with the activities and policies of this organization, founded by members of the Ford family nearly eighty years ago. The Ford Foundation divested of its shares in the Ford Motor Company nearly fifty years ago; FMC has its own separate charitable organization.

This is honestly one of the stupidest suggestions ever recorded digitally on earth.

If you do not hire vets, who do you hire? Gutless leftists? When it comes time to step into the fray and stop some scumbag from bleeding out or save a choking baby, you never see a Biden supporter running to help, you see them running with their camera to get media for their blog, feed, Facebook or some other crap. Vets make up a large percentage of police, fire and other jobs the country depends upon because they are for the most part, dependable and want to work for their nation in some way.......................unlike Democrats, who simply want to destroy this nation and create a Marxist state.

Why are the world's sewers ran by Democrats/socialists/Marxists/communists? That is easy enough..............................they always chose platitudes over actions to improve peoples lives. In the end, leftist policies always depend on seizing wealth from those who work to earn it and giving it to those who do nothing. Eventually, the people who work, leave in search of places to live with people who work and are like minded in the idea that you create your own wealth, happiness and hope. These people know the government gives you nothing it has not taken from someone else and thus cannot be depended upon to provide for you.
