So today was the big day, pick up arranged for 4.45 pm, taken care to ensure the car would be ready as I requested, no front plate fixed etc. GTechniq booked in for Monday, stripes ready etc etc.

Pulled into the dealership and saw two brand new Mustang Convertibles in the rain, one Red and one White. Quickly parked, salesman spotted us, big smile. Wifes heart pounding as its really her car, talking about being careful home in the wet. :D

Imagine our shock when we walked around the corner to admire our car when I immediately clocked black wheels. We ordered the custom pack so should be the bright wheels:frusty:

No worries I thought they can probably swap them, but what a pain, or maybe its not our car, but our plates in the window, confused, no reverse sensors!. Salesman comes bounding out with the keys, I immediately say its the wrong car:confused:

A few moments of debating, checking the Vin, opening boot, no shaker, he now panics, wife in tears, all hell breaks loose. We sit down in shock.:doh:

But the dealers had it three weeks, surely they checked.....?????:confused:Double check paper work, nope ordered, etis nope shows custom pack, ford bill to dealer includes the cost, manager of the dealer comes out and to be fair is very clear they have a major problem to address.

So Monday Ford UK have some explaining to do, my dealer is going to try and resolve but I fear we maybe waiting a number of months for the car to turn up. Just sold the misses one too bit of a mess. Going for a beer :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Wow you went from glorious anticipation, to total dissapointment. Seems these days everyone has their heads up their butts and incompetence abounds!!!

I really feel for you. The same or similar thing happened to me in that I spotted from ETIS that none of the elements of custom pack were listed but this was five and a half months down the track and 3 days before it was to be built. They had not ordered the custom pack and no one has noticed. Your case is very odd though as all the documentation and computer systems are showing custom pack. With a modern MRP system it's impossible to manufacture the wrong vehicle unless you have a completely different VIN ie somebody elses car.
My error resulted in a 2 month delay but was discovered earlier in the supply chain.
I really hope they sort it for you, don't hesitate to involve the Mustang girls and Andy Barratt.

Sorry to hear this. Wish I could say I was surprised or shocked, but sadly I'm not.

Add it to the thread Cati has started, maybe Ford might take note if the number of posts gets high enough - but I suspect it would have to get near 100,000 to prompt any interest whatsoever from them.

how the fuck do you get an order wrong... i say this; this is now the FIFTH case i've personally read on it.

Even swapping wheels wouldn't make it a 'Custom pack' (No chrome trim) even swapping them on at the state of that car wouldn't.

Enjoy getting the following (Which i believe you should go for)

1) that car until your new one arrives (right spec)
2) a massive discount (Probably stock list no extras) for the hassle on the car when you do pick it up - If you do.

i had a very similar problem a few years ago with a bmw 330 conv
I kept the car until a new one was delivered
dealer then sold it as a 6 month old car and bmw picked up the shortfall
this is what you should be asking for

Ahhhhh......

I know the feeling, I got a video of the car a couple of days before I was collecting.
Had the same reaction, that's not my car, mine has silver wheels.

I was 'lucky' the dealer had a car another car delivered at the same time in the right spec but was ruby red not race red, so swapped over to that!

For whatever reason I never got a copy of the order form, so assumed the right car had been ordered. If the car differs from the order then the dealer and Ford need to sort it out.

Hopefully one of the cars that are available at the moment will be what you want!

Best of Luck

Paul;
