What guys do you think about this. Let's make light RWD Coupe. And put there 2.3 EB from Mustang and 2.7L V6 EcoBoost from F-150? Aim it in to the BMW 2 series, Audi S3, Audi TT, Hyundai Genesis, Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ.

Good idea but very costly to come up with a new platform and sell it in niche numbers. If you could find a platform to share it with Ford would probably consider it. Barring that happening its just pleasant longings. :)

Maybe they should just jump on board with Subi & Toyota and put the EB in the existing BRZ... :D

OTOH, a smaller, lightweight RWD coupe that's a 3/4 scale Mustang (maybe badged "Capri") would probably be popular in Europe.

HKS is already selling SuperCharged 270 hp BRZ. Why not give what people want right from the dealership?

It's just an idea. I miss any american car in the "light RWD car" segment :(

I do too but again refer to my first post on the subject. It costs a shitload of money to tool up a new platform. To amortize that you either have to sell at high ATP's, sell a boatload of them or develop other vehicles off that platform to spread costs out. The proposed Probe 3 would be none of those unfortunately. There is a reason Toyota and Subaru have a joint venture on the BRZ/FRS twins and its for the reasons I mentioned above. Neither one of them would have tried it on their own.

Now if Ford could find a partnership like that I could see it happening. That is what you need to be looking into if you really want a small RWD niche vehicle. I hope its out there too. GM has been mulling over offering that small RWD CodeR vehicle or whatever its name is for years now and hasn't moved on it. Again for the reasons I mentioned above. Lets keep rooting for an economy turnaround and improvement and maybe Ford can find a partnership with Kia or Hyundai or someone like that for a small RWD entry level light car. :)

They should partner with Mazda and use the MX5 platform. IMO Probe is such a horrible name though.

Might be a good time to bring back the Puma, Cougar, or Torino names. Falcon might fit even better, but it's being used in Australia now. Pinto and Maverick are available as well but who wants to be reminded of those?

take the mazda rx8 platform and stick the eb into it. change the rear gear to a 3.31

i will donate the rx8..

it would be the perfect daily driver / track car... and i bet would get 30 mpg.

Id rather they just flip the focus to RWD and use the 2.3EB. Alas, ain't gonna happen.
