I want to tighten up my 20 GT PP1 just a little over the stock suspension. I’ve been looking at tons of different combinations and I am not going to track the car probably ever, just fun back roads car driving and street driving. It’s my second car, I drive my F150 most of the time, but I love this car and it makes me happy having some fun with it over country roads. The roads where I live do kinda suck and are alot of them are not in good shape. So, having some comfort is key for me and especially my wife.
I was kinda set on a set of Steeda’s DIFM minimum drop springs with the pro active shocks/struts but they just seem really expensive to me. I can get the whole ford track pack kit for the same or less money and get sway bars out of it. My issue with that kit is I dont wnat to lower the car 1”. I can live with a small drop like 1/2 or so. I just want the ground clearance and ease of getting in and out (Mid 50’s guy here). So, I see I can get the struts and shocks form the ford performance kit for a very reasonable price and was wondering if pairing it with the steeda 200/800lbs min drop springs would be a good alternative that also saves a few bucks while giving me a performance bump in handling. This this ok pairing or should I look at something else?

So the Ford performance kit springs are a 3/4 inch drop. The steeda you mentioned is 1/2. I'd say go for the FP kit.

I agree with ya. I don't want to lower my car either. That is what stops me from updating my suspension.

B6 or Koni Active and Eibach sway bars will tighten it up as much as you'll ever use on the street and be civil.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] - I can have Rodney look at the numbers & provide recommendations - if not the pro actives ... the fixed ones are a significant upgrade, too. Rodney is one of our best build experts & can offer a solid recommendation!

The FP track shocks/dampers and Steeda min drop springs are one of the best pairings. This setup will track the road undulations and provide great road feedback. Depending on how choppy the road surface is, it can be a bit harsh. Tires also play into this. Don't run anything less than a 30 profile tire or it's going to be worse. I do not daily mine so I have no problem with this and would never change this setup to anything else. On good highway surfaces my car feels very smooth and tight, like it can break the sound barrier and still be in control.

My car is still on the stock PP1 wheel and tire combo so 40 series Michelin. When these tires are done, I am going to a square 275/40/19 set up for the rubber cushion. Your car looks fantastic and thank you for the feedback on how you like it. May I ask you what sway bars you are using?

My car is a PP1 as well. Running the PP1 sways. I don't feel as though they need changing. If anything I would add the K member sub frame brace. I ran these shocks/springs for more than a year on PP1 wheels before I changed to the LMR SP2 package. The PP1 wheels are real boat anchors and the car became much more lively after ditching nearly 30lbs of wheel mass. Thanks for the compliment. 👍

Got it all back together! Drove it around for about 25 minutes and my first impression is it’s very nice. A comfortable ride, not harsh at all and we have speed bumps in our neighborhood. Zero body roll. I can feel the difference in the IRS dowels and brackets when I get on the power. No nose dive on hard braking. Shockingly, it drives pretty damn straight. I‘m still going to get an alignment appointment tomorrow.
I definitely learned a lot and lucky I have the free time to do it and not rush as I’m retired. Ran into a few snags ghat this forum helped me through so thanks to everyone that posts about overcoming issues.
Spent about 200 bucks in tools I did not already have a needed. It was worth it to me. The steeda minimum drop was a little more than 1/2” not quite 3/4“. I’m happy. It tightened up the handling and I set both sways on full soft. I might change that. I had previously installed the steeda rear sway.
I May sell the PP1 suspension kit as this scratched my itch.
