Go aftermarket for weight. Look for a flow formed / spun forged / rotary forged barrel for strength (lots of good options), just not cast heavy barrels like the Ford wheels.

you can go 9.5 or 10” wide on all four corners with zero regrets and can then rotate wheels freely. 19x10” ET35 or ET40. 9.5” will be a slightly smaller offset for similar fit (ET28-34). You can run a 275/40 or 285/35 on the 10” wheel or just the 275 on a 9.5” wheel.

There’s no need to go smaller than a 19x9” and I wouldn’t touch anything less than a 9.5” wide wheel with 275s if I had a choice. The wider tires and tires work well on out powerful heavy cars.

Guys,
I am in the market for wheels as well and I don't really care about weight. However, I didn't want to run a square set-up with this particular FoMoCo wheel. So, I did a little research and found that they have introduced the wheel in a 9.5" for the front. Part # is as follows:

May I ask why you don't care about weight? It's usually an important factor for most people.

I just prefer OEM or FoMoCo parts over anything else. Yeah, most people prefer a lighter wheel and then run a low profile tire and wind up having a bent wheel. I also like the fact that the OEM part is more than likely well made. Additionally, I’m not paying $3000+ for a set of forged wheels.

You may want to rethink this. The factory wheels are cast, that makes them heavier doesn't mean that they are stronger. A rotary forged/flow formed wheel will be stronger as well as lighter and sometimes less expensive. Cheap cast wheels are the ones that bend and crack and low profile tires certainly don't help things in this respect. Then again, I'm old enough to remember when a 70 series tire was considered low profile.

Complete Mustang newbie here, and I'm looking to get new wheels/tires and I have a few questions that I think can piggyback on this thread a bit related to wheels and tires. I'm doing as much research as I can.

Currently have a '19 Convertible GT. Stock wheels are 235/50/18. This is my daily driver and I don't race on the track. Just some fun launch control from time to time to feel the power between stop lights here in Chicago (not in a douche way, I promise. I'm 44, not 18!). I'd like to go 19" and black wheels as my only initial requirement.

1. SIZE: Tire place suggested 255/40/19 all around. I'd notice a definite difference in ride and the looks would be noticeable. Is 255 a big enough visual difference to 235? I see MANY here posting that 275 and even 305 is more common to upgrade to.

2. STAGGERED: I think I want to stick with the same on front and back so I can rotate them and get more life out of the tires. Is staggering a noticeable difference in ride/looks? Will I regret not going staggered?

3. FIT: If I went with the same size on all four, would these FP wheels in this thread fit on my '19 GT? Heck, would staggered fit? I see comments that this is only for cars that already have PP2. So I might not have a choice to go staggered?

4. My son and I have been checking out wheels for many hours/days and really like http://www.nicheroadwheels.com/wheel/5882/niche-sport-series-misano-m117/?finishID=12&lugs=5. In looking closer, they look just like these FP PP2 wheels. :) Guess I'm drawn to what Ford already provides huh. I have NO idea whether 8.5", 9", 10.5", etc. is the way to go, just like I don't know whether 255 or 275 is the way to go. Advice? Differences? Compatibility chart?

Thanks in advance. Y'all are SO helpful and I've learned so much already. I'm proud to be part of the Mustang family!
For what you're describing, I'd look for 275 tires on wheels either 9.5" or 10" wide. For full rotation, you may need to consider running spacers on the front, with wheel offsets chosen to suit the rear. 255/xx on 9" wheels may not give you as much change in appearance as you're looking for.

Guys,
I am in the market for wheels as well and I don't really care about weight. However, I didn't want to run a square set-up with this particular FoMoCo wheel. So, I did a little research and found that they have introduced the wheel in a 9.5" for the front. Part # is as follows:

M-1007-DC1995MB
Cant find M-1007-DC1995MB

Got a link?

Thanks. I've updated the original post to include these wheel sizes as well as the pdf from Ford Performance.

9.5 and 10 for normal GT can use indy500 275/35 front and 285/35 rear. Nice street set up.
Guess wheels will be around 2k at dealer...

I posted some prices on the original post. You should be looking at around $1400 for a set of these wheels. The 9.5" and 10" should be within the same pricing range. Not terrible at all for OEM spec.

I found these on the internet. Looks like these new wheels. Can someone tell me if these are the the 9.5 / 10 inch staggered combo? What size tires do these look like?

It definitely looks like the 9.5 / 10 inch staggered combo. The rear looks like a 295 tire. I'll see if I can find out the wheel/tire specs.
Here's a PP2 for comparison from that same dealer's webpage. You can tell the PP2 has larger wheels:

Cool, I think I might be interested in the 9.5 / 10 inch setup. I like the finish of the wheels and don't like poke of the 10.5 / 11 inch PP2 setup. You might be able to run the PP1 tire setup too with the 255/40 and 275/40 sizes. Although I'd probably go 265/40 in the front because of the 9.5 inch wheel.

Those look like nittos g2 and bulge quite a bit in the rear. Probably 285 front, 305 rear
