I'm on my second Ford Performance CF shift knob from CJ PonyParts, and they seem to have some terrible threads on them. Am I just unlucky, or is that what they're supposed to look like? Here's the second one they sent me after returning the first:

Here's how high it sits when it's cranked down as far as it will go:

It looks like they're made with bad helicoil inserts. Anybody else have experience with these? I found one other mention of bad threads on the forum here:

You should ask them directly if that's what it's supposed to look like. I'd just run a thread cleaner through it and call it a day though.

They checked some stock - evidently they're all coming out of China that way now. Back it goes...

Happy ending - I bought the same knob from Steeda, lower price, and the threads are perfect. Rowing to work tomorrow with carbon fiber power!
