Auto shift knob issue.

My friend borrowed my car today and sliced his palm on the shift knob. I'm going to need this to be replaced, should be covered under warranty right?

Had a very simalar problem on 08 GT auto. Cheap chrome plating mine wasn't under warranty, good luck!

Be happy the piece didn't just fall off like mine.

Not so much concerned with it peeling but the fact that it's actually sharp.

Its warranty covered . Should be no problem on a replacement.....

I had the same issue and just had this replaced today. Dealer replaced the entire shifter under warranty.

I'm having the same issue, but bought our 2015 V6 last year with 50K miles on it, so warranty replacement won't be available - looking for a good used one.

Go to the source for warranty consideration. It's not a power train item. The car is more than 36 months old. Bumper - bumper would have covered that but powertrain will not. As I was told by Ford on a FRPS that failed, "Under power train warranty, if it gets oil and rotates its covered by the powertrain warranty. Otherwise its on you." But that is experience and not fact from the source. So once again go to the source and ask the question.

If you aren't worried about it peeling -- as you state in reply #4, then take a piece of 120 grit and work it smooth, and finish with some 240 and then some steel wool. problem solved.

There are normally decent ones on ebay for sale. Might be cheap from Ford though might be worth putting in the number and checking the price.
