Being an older Mustang owner, I really feel the loss of going to my local dealer and grabbing a copy of the latest new car brochures so I could read up on the new models, drool at the photos and mark down my ultimate option combination. For those who are unaware, in 2023 Ford stopped producing most of their printed sales brochures. However, you can still get most of the same info free. Ford still has recent years Mustang sales brochures, order guides, and wallpaper worthy photos hidden on their Media Center website. You can also grab a copy of your owner's manual in electronic format. Not all years are created equal. In 2021 with the intro of the Mach 1 there are some amazing photos and special info. By 2023, there is barely a mention. However, the order guides for each year are a resource everyone should have, if for no other reason than to win arguments over available options. Grab them while you can before they are no longer available.

If you have FordPass, your owners manual is available there also.

The dealer I ordered my car from had sales brochures (2022) so I grabbed one and have it in a folder with all the paperwork I’ve saved from my order. Bummer that they’re going away but not totally surprised either. The kids these days have grown up reading almost everything digitally and don’t want paper anything really.

Great post for sure!

I have collected original Mustang brochures from the rare 1962 prototype distributed foldout all the way through about model year 2009 I think it is (gotta check - and someday I need to pick up where I left off). The collection includes the Cobras, Bullitts, SVO’s, SSP’s, etc. Yep, even the Mustang II brochures are in the collection (LOL).

They are not all mint, some show some ā€œpatinaā€, but that is what is so cool about each one of them. The imagery, the sizes, the colors, the photos or artist renderings, and the minimalistic ā€œtechā€ that was included in them is irreplaceable in today’s world. All of mine are true original paper hard copies from the time periods, not reproductions or hi-rez print-offs found online. The stack I have is almost 4ā€ thick of original Mustang brochures.

The more modern PDF versions - although cool to get them ā€œdigitallyā€, isn’t the same as having a hard copy from years past. When having the hard copies laid out, you can just see the Mustang evolution from the covers.

Here’s a few samplings of some of the more rare brochures I have acquired.

The small SAAC seal on the below brochure has never been broken. Many don’t even know what an ā€œSAACā€ Mustang is and don’t know that these now command upwards of $80k-$150k, depending on model year, hatch or convertible, color choices, overall condition, if they have all of their paperwork, how low of a build number they are, and if they are mothballed versions. Everyone knows the 1993 Cobra and Cobra R values, but most don’t even know anything about the SAAC Fox Mustangs at all.

Aside from this rare SVO dealer only 8x11 double sided card, I also have the original 1984 SVO specific brochure.

Rare prototype brochure before the 2005 Mustang was introduced and manufactured:

Yep, the original 1962 Mustang prototype brochure; it’s really cool and the smallest of all brochures. Inside of it on one of the fold out pages, it has the original Mustang Pony & bars sketch which was THE original thought and design drawn up by Phil Clark at Ford. For those of you new to the Mustang hobby, or don’t know the Phil Clark story, you can read everything about how the iconic Mustang emblem came to be here:

The Mustang was used by quite a few Agencies in the US from 1982 until 1993. The below is the 93 specific brochure; I have some of the other years too. Also for those that don’t know, the Mustang was used as the U2 Spy Plane chase car here and overseas starting in 1986 and ending in 1991:

IMO, this one below not rare by any means, is just one of many Ford Mustang Dealer brochure covers where it is a great photographic image of the time: (note the original ā€œpatinaā€ dealership stamp):

Although not Mustang, these are a few other brochure rarities from my collection:

That's a great collection you have. One of my greatest memories growing up in Chicago was going to the annual Auto Show at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago with my Dad. I would have my bags that they hand out with all the car brochures in them to look at when I got home. Miss that a lot.
