WOW...Quite a step up in price since the last generation and very limited production numbers.

Going to be a very nice car!

Really disappointed. Anyone can make a better car simply by throwing money at it. The challenge is to make a better car for less and it looks like Ford is going to try the Korean auto maker approach and just raise prices to seem more upscale.
There is a lot more technology and exotic materials vs the previous generation. They made over 4,000 GT's in 04/05. They are only building 250 a year. Pricing seems inline to me with what you're getting and limited production.

$400k is big money and puts that car up against some serious competition. Ferrari has announced the new 488 GTB, which replaces the 458, and will be, in my mind, the car that the Ford GT will measured against. The 488 has a 3.9L TT V8 with 661hp and 561 lb-ft tq. That 3.9L TT V8 should homologate to LeMans just the same as the 3.5L ecoboost, which has been touted as the advantage to using the 3.5 EB. "Dry weight" on the 488 is supposed to be 3,020 lbs (we'll see how much the GT can beat that). The 458 started around $250k and up with options. I suspect even with the anticipated price increase, the 488 will still come in well under 400k.

As limited as production will be, I have no doubt that Ford will sell all of the new GT's it builds. However, if I had $400k to spend on a car, and availability wasn't a problem, I think there are some other options I might find more appealing for the same money or less.

Wow, I was thinking it would be around a quarter million. 400K is pretty rarefied air.

I love this car and am glad Ford built it, but at that price, if I had the money, I'd be hard pressed to take one over a Ferrari or Lambo. Hopefully the performance meets expectations.

One thing that every one making the Ferrari comments is missing is that to even buy a 488 GTB you have had to own numerous prior Ferrari's. This vehicle imo will appeal to people who grew up a Ford fan, but significantly changed their social class, or to true track car lovers. This vehicle is incredibly well designed and being built in limited numbers. I personally can't wait to test drive one. Luckily with where I work I am sure I will get one. This will be a vehicle where the true worth will be behind the wheel, which you can't measure by pictures online or word.
