I went through the first 11 pages of forums and didn't find the answer for which I am looking.

Has anyone who has used the Metra or Scosche adapter to change out the 4" base radio to an aftermarket unit been able to retain the factory microphone? I know those units retain the factory back-up camera, but what I'm curious about it the microphone. Is that a proprietary plug on the microphone, or is it a standard 3.5mm that I can plug into the back of an aftermarket Sony, Kenwood, Alpine, etc unit? Thanks.

When I removed the Metra setup in my 17, the Kenwood head unit microphone was the one that was connected. What I can say is that using that setup produced better audio for the folks I talked with than the factory setup I went back to.

I hope this helps.
