I was thinking of purchasing the ESP from Flood Ford for my 2021 Mustang 5.0 w/ 150 miles on it. I plan to drive it about 8,000 miles a year. I was doing some research on the forum and glad I ran across the ESP pricing from Flood Ford. The dealership I bought the car from wanted $3000 for 8 years/76k miles.

My wife and I like to keep the cars we buy for a very long time. Is the ESP worth getting? How was your experience using it?

Well esp are insurance. Pretty much by definition they won’t be worth it on average. Plus if you modify your car you risk getting denied. Dont neglect the time value of money over 8 Years as well. Fwiw i tend to think it is only worth it on new models where the reliability is unknown.

"As a retired IT professional, I find your faith in technology amusing." :giggle:

That's the main reason I paid for the ESP.

It's an insurance policy. Like any insurance It's only worthwhile if you need to use it.
I paid $1000 for the CPO warranty and just had a $4000ish head gasket replacement done. So, for me, it has been worth it.
Your results may vary.

Yes it is worth it. These cars are so high tech that every repair costs thousands. The electronics alone are a killer. Everything is connected and subject to some issues down the road. The Ford plan had a convenient payment plan to spread the payments over a year on your credit card. Very painless purchase and piece of mind.

The ESP through Flood will be so much cheaper than through your local dealer. And if you have any FordPass rewards, which you should from just buying the car, you can use them towards the purchase of the ESP with Flood. Plus, if before the base 3/36 ends, and you see you are driving more than the plan you purchased, you can change to a longer ESP for a $50 fee.

So i have a car being delivered next month and ive been thinking of the extended warranty through flood. The mustang will be a purly weekend/just for fun car so it should be a low milage car. I dont plan on doing any modifications that will void any warranties. No plans for drag strips or track days. I do plan on breaking it in easy with an oil change after 1k miles.

With all of that being said i do not plan on babying this car. When its warmed up i plan on using all availible horses and putting that manual through its paces. I do take good care of our cars/trucks with maintinance done normally before its required.

I currently have a 2017 F350 work truck, a 2013 Avenger with a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty, and a 2020 F150 with 9k miles. My wife has a 2020 Escape and a honda accord for a work car.

I live in the midwest with salt and ice for winters so the mustang will be stored in the garage during the winters. I just dont see me putting a ton of miles on the car over the next 5-10 years.

Opinions on me getting this warranty? It seems like a hell of a deal but i was hoping i could get some advise from the people who have had the 2018+ mustang GT manuals for a while. Thanks for your time i truly appreciate you all.

I just added the 8 year/80,000 KM (~50,000 miles) to mine today for $2090 Can. (about $1630 U.S) We don't have the likes of Flood Ford etc. here so it does cost more though not stupidly so. So far in 3 years I have averaged about 8000 km per year and the warranty will cover to 10,000 km per year on average which I doubt I would ever exceed.

What I wanted was time coverage not distance so much due to my low annual usage. Knowing I've got another 5 years of full warranty pretty much will likely save me some money as I will be comfortable keeping the car for a very long time instead of wondering at the 5 year mark how much longer I should keep it.

And truthfully I love this Goddamned car so I'm keeping it. :)
