Oh god, I wish I never saw this post. Now I'm gonna have to start measuring my oil. 2021 Roushcharged 3.7K miles, no issues so far, does have HPFP rattle at 2K RPM which is now labeled as normal by FORD. Harmonics or something. Never seen black smoke on startup or otherwise.
This whole string is why I am careful not to void my warranty

Yep, which is why till my Roush warranty is up I'm not modifying the motor or associated systems. If it lasts 3 years no problems at 750CHp then ill start playing a bit.

isnt there a difference between the tick and 2k ratttle? if i had the tick i would have put createc in and went on about it. the noise mine made grabbed more attention than my burnouts...lol
As the proud owner of the tick at idle and the rattle at 2k and having heard your audio of your noise, I can say without a doubt it sounded much much worse than my car. Mine is an annoying DI sound, yours sounded like a gremlin was in your engine bay with a jackhammer.

From my understanding, all engines are broken in before they are shipped out and installed. Not sure where I read that about production cars. Not sure about a replacement engine.

I really don’t think it matters. On this forum alone over the last few years I bet you can find evidence of those that babied it, those that broke in per manual, and those that went like hell from mile 1 all having perfect cars as well as cars needing engines.

Man y'all, I hate to hear of this difficulty.
As an old school mechanic, with a lot of years inside both gasoline and diesel engines of most highway use, I read with much interest about the 2017 Coyote in my Stang, and what Ford did to the 2018 up blocks with that funky "Coating" on the cylinders.
I cant believe some engineer at Ford would do such a thing, and many of us car nuts gonna pay the price for their experiment.
Give me good ol iron sleeves or cast in cylinders any day.
I wish you all the best on this cluster.
Keep warm my friends.
Best regards, Dave and Frosty Mustang

Lol. Coated cylinder walls have been around for 15 years now. It's not an "experiment". It's proven to work.

BMW V8s in 1990s had major problems with cylinder coatings degradation from low grade high sufur N. American fuel.....lots of replacements.

Wouldn't surprise me if some of the bio fuels and so called renewable fuel LOL causing issues....
Ah yes, the infamous BMW M60 V8. Only ever did one of those short block repairs. I wish they were that easy now!
