For you 2016 GT350 buyers, do you guys consider the 2012+ Shelby 350's a REAL 350?

Just trying to feel out the purest out there.

Do you guys feel the 2012-2014 Shelby 350's are REAL 350's? Shelby has a knack for building glorified tuner/body panel upgrade cars. Outside of the Shelby 1000, aren't most of the cars they produce glorified tuner cars.

So back to my question is this new GT 350 the next REAL gen of the car since the 60's?

I personally LOVE the new GT350's and plan on buying one.

And for those who liked the 2012-2014 GT350 do you also like the new ones and plan on buying one as well?

Thx.

I think Carroll mightve had more input into the older 350 than the new ones. While I do not really consider this new model a Shelby, Im not buying it for the name or badging.

Ford says they the 350 has been dead since the 70s.. Sooo, not even they consider it a real 350. Lol

I like the new current one by Ford better... much better. Easy decision to me.

I think the new GT350 from Ford Performance is closer in spirit to the original GT350 than the previous GT350 from Shelby was.

I'm fine with it being called a Shelby, even though the direct link is tenuous at best.

"Real or not real" threads are a total waste of time, started by people who disrespect others and perpetuated by people with too much time on their hands.

Over the years I have owned quite a few Mustangs. Stock V6s to GTs to Saleens, Shelbys and so on. I like them any way you can mod them. Not once have I asked myself is it "more this or that" because I can't imagine why it matters.

The S197 versions of the GT350 were available in model year 2011 as well. Historically, Shelby-named Mustangs have been both built up by Shelby American and Ford. I liked the non-supercharged S197 GT350 and would have liked to have one. However, the S550 version packs amazing engineering at a lesser price, so it's even more desirable to me.

I still like the new current GT350 much better.... the other one is too tacky IMO.

Here's the previous "post-title" one by Shelby America... release news from Oct. 2010:

"Shelby American has released the final specifications for the 2011 GT350, including an option that will net buyers more than 600 horsepower.

Built in Las Vegas, the GT350 will be available in both naturally aspirated and supercharged form. Naturally aspirated cars come in standard 2011 Ford Mustang GT trim for SCCA racing duties, with the option to bump horsepower to 430.

The standard supercharged model makes 525 horsepower, and an optional "R" tuning package makes 624 ponies. All models have a performance suspension, upgraded brakes, performance-oriented wheels and tires, and Shelby exterior and interior styling cues.

Other options include an upgraded stereo, track-ready brakes, and a Watts-link rear suspension.

Additional standard features include a Borla exhaust, 19-inch alloy wheels, 45th anniversary badging, A-pillar mounted gauges, and brake ducts for the front and rear. Additional options include a street-race tire package and leather seats with unique stitching. The full list of goodies can be found on Shelby's Web site.

Prices start at $26,995 for the naturally aspirated package and $33,995 for the supercharged models, not including the cost of the donor car."
