I know these are crazy expensive but has anyone looked at the Focal 165F3's? Crutchfield says woofer will fit in the doors?
Paired with the Focal 2 channel, these should be pretty bad ass?
Just wondering, search brought nothing up on this site... Thinking that's a sign.

There are quite a few 3-way speaker sets out there that will fit the S550. I have not heard these, but this is an example of one set that is much lower priced and can also be driven by a two channel amp;

ANY 6.5" available from ANY car audio manufacturer will fit these doors, so long as you make an appropriate baffle (adapter). Those Focals are excellent speakers. Get them.

These components are pretty amazing. I have installed them, individually amped with active processing. Due to some issues at one point all I had running in the car was the 6.5" midbass and I couldn't believe the range they had.

Guess I didn't realize the none premium wasn't 3 way. What do you have

Base cars only have the 6.5 opening in the bottom and the tweeter pod on the pillar. The premium cars have the extra opening in the door panel I believe right in front of the lock buttons.

I have the 165AS3's and am quite happy with them. Not in the same league as the F's, but good nonetheless.

Yeah the cool thing is that the bade models still have the same door frame so the cutout exists but not the whole in the doorpanel. But I am sure this could be cut out and one could put a 3.5inch speaker and grille on it.
