I have received a lot of questions about the quarter windows on my car, so I though I would post up the information for those interested. These are made by Hyperformance Glass. If what I was told is correct, they are also the same company who made the 2015 50th Anniversary Edition quarter windows.

Here is their link: https://hyperformanceglassproducts.com

They are available from the Shelby Store as well, but I know you can buy directly from them.

These are the same windows I have, but mine do not have Gorilla branding on the glass, but have the SHELBY brand, as you can see below.

Wonder why they went from a 3 panel to a 5? The 50th LE was a 3. Limited stock just for that car I’d assume 🤷

Most likely 5 panel for Hyperformamce due to Copyright, Trademark and Patent laws. Hyperformamce was not the original creator or vendor for the 50th LE 1/4 glass.

The original design and Patent for the 50th LE glass was filed in 2012 by Magna Mirrors.

The 50th LE glass also is not available at all through the Ford Parts department to retail buyers. Yes it's listed online, yes there are part numbers and yes, there is a price per side, but in order to purchase the Buyer has to provide proof of 50th LE ownership. The only other way to source original 50th LE rear 1/4 glass would be finding it salvage or from a parted 50th LE that is put on eBay.

Only 1,964 LE's were produced in 2015 - which greatly limits access to that rear 1/4 glass.

Good info. A buddy of mine snagged a pair of 50th windows and then said he heard directly from the company that made them that they also made the Shelby windows. Oh well, either way, they are pretty great windows.

IMO, the Hyperformance rear 1/4 glass is the absolute best option for adding the classic 60’s louvered look to the S550.

Plus, their retail pricing is extremely fair for a complete set. It gives the S550 a unique look and IMO, a finished appearance as to how the car should have come from the factory since inception.

Thank you for the education! I keep up with the LEs out to pasture post but haven’t been able to find any parts yards that end up with these cars. I’m absolutely in love with the 5 panel look so that will most likely be in my future.

The last set of 50th LE rear 1/4 glass set I saw was on eBay a year or two ago. In fact it was an M6G member “mustangguy88” on here who bought it along with all of the correct chrome trim for the entire L and R side. He painted all the chrome black, which came out great.

The original 50th LE 1/4 glass at one point was in excess of $2,000.00 each. The price has since came down to $1,500-$1,200 each depending on which Ford listing is sourced. That’s per side and not including any additional chrome trim for the door/upper window.

The Hyperformance 5-panel rear 1/4 glass is an excellent upgrade or modification to any S550. The price as I said before, is definitely a really great bargain.

For anyone wanting to do the install, the above thread (from page 1) shows the install from another M6G member who was the first to find a set of the 50th LE 1/4 glass and he documented his install.

That post is by my good friend Marcus @Terminated. Great guy who I meet up with often. In fact, he and I are traveling to Mustang week together. We, along with our wives are renting a house on the beach for the week. Gonna be a great time.

I agree, these 5 panel windows are a great upgrade. I was going to get them as listed in the Shelby Store, but I was offered the chance to get the Shelby branded version, which I jumped on.

I’d definitely pay for a pro to do it, my luck I’d scratch the paint or not get a watertight seal 🤣

Thanks for posting the information. Which company did you hire to complete the install?

To update: Nov 2023

All bad news. Started to look into this and contacted hyperformance. They don't make the 5 panel louvered glass anymore. Also they supplied Shelby with the 5 panel Shelby branded pieces, again, not available (per Shelby).
So at this point the only way to get louvered glass of any kind (3 or 5 panel) is via salvage.
