Just wondering if anyone has tried to fit the OEM strut tower brace to their car yet?

I just tried to fit mine and the brace hits the driver side K brace. I think it will need spacers to be used on one side so that it to fit flat on the top of the tower.

Anyone else have this issue?

This is also related to the Steeda brace, from the UK section:

I'm fortunate I held off getting the OEM and Steeda braces and I'm beginning to think not worth the hassle.

I'm ordering the G-Trac brace which will do the same job from under the car.

Thanks for the links - but I did check those before posting.

it does appears that for RHD cars - the brace commonly called the "K brace" - due to the way it is mounted - on RHD cars it can cause the strut tower brace not to sit flat on the tower.

While using a few washers may allow for the fitting of a LHD tower brace - I am not sure if it is the best way to mount it.
will the long bolts be strong enough?

would it be better to use a purpose made spacer ie one that is bolted to the tower as well?

^^^^ I tend to agree. let's see what Steeda come up with and you may be able to apply that to your OEM brace.

You definitely know your stuff!

Exactly why I didn't go for the strut brace.

That, and the Steeda front sway bars are insanely beefy. Will certainly stiffen things up.

It will just need a small spacer or a couple of washers under it at one of the studs....an easy fix.....

The load carried through the studs is a shear load wether the washers are there or not. If torqued correctly it wont make any difference.

To make it look neat , I will probably fab up a small shim to slip in there instead of washers to make it look flush with the k brace.

I'm surprised that the guys in the UK are saying the Ford racing brace will suit, as I thought they were exactly the same as oem, but just a different colour?

Any chance of pictures Aussie Mate?

I think I may have found the cause of this problem.

Look at the cutouts on the back of the brace on the left and right sides. One is larger to accommodate the K brace on LHD vehicles.

I think the fix will be to grind the other side slightly to match the profile on the left, which should allow correct clearance around the RHD K brace.
