After 5 HPDE days in a BMW e36 , and a few "Trackcross" events. I decided to finally take the Mustang out for some Trackcross .
Here is the format :

The first thing I learned is that the Mustang is easy to heel toe on the track. I am not quite able to do it on the street , but when you brake on the track and are running higher in the RPM range, rev matching was not an issue.
We had rain for almost all our runs , I had a few good dry ones, but was only doing 6/10th or so out there in the wet. I am happy with my times.
I called Lockton , they covered this under their Autocross policy ( $355 for the YEAR , 5% deductable) I am probably going to use this as an excuse to do some AutoX this year now
The format allows anyone to get on the track and get some real track speed . I saw one car totaled into the wall and a newer Audi S6 get towed off with about 5-10K in damage. I figure since you are the only one on the track, the only person you are going to hurt is yourself .
We had the skidpad open , and it was great to get out there and slide the car around some . This was the only time I went into Track mode. I actually ran the wet runs on track in rain/snow mode.
Everything I learned on the e36 was helpful . Even with 2.x times the torque and HP in the Mustang , the lessons learned were appreciated. The car will do many of the same things, but you can get into trouble MUCH quicker in the Mustang.
I hope to be able to do HPDE this summer , but I am already too busy . :(
