If I get one it will be my 5th new Mustang. I've driven nothing but Mustangs for the past 21 years. ;)

I've had 2 Mustangs so far. My first was a 1995 GT that I bought my Freshman year of college. It saw a lot of my work dollars while in school and plenty of wrenching on weekends and breaks. Supercharged, Cobra brakes, TKO600 and on and on. I loved that car, but I moved from Michigan to Oklahoma for a job opportunity I couldn't refuse. The car then sat in storage for almost 2 years as I didn't have a place for it down here and I work so much that wrenching time would be greatly diminished. I decided to sell my labor of love after doing lots of reading about the upcoming S550.

I also acquired my Dad's 1988 GT after he passed away. He bought it off the showroom floor and was the car that turned me into a Mustang (and car) nut. It only had a mild H/C/I but it sounded SO good.

Now I'm ready to step into a car that I can enjoy with high performance without having to spend so much time beneath it. Whether I spend less time under it then I did my 95 remains to be seen...

I just bought a 14 and had an 84 back around 1987. Quite a difference between them. The 84 was a bare bones V6 and the 14 is a loaded GT Premium.

Workin' my butt off to save up as much as I can and own my first Mustang. Once I got word that getting one wouldn't kill my insurance rates, I couldn't stop thinking about when I'd finally have it. My father has worked for Ford for many years, and drove many Mustangs. It's time I've gotten one of my own (:

I'm surprised at how many will be first time owners. This will be my 6th Mustang ('65, '88, '88, '03, '05) and although I consider myself a purist, I think Ford's doing a pretty good job with this one so far. While there will never be a better looking Mustang than the '65 Fastback, Ford has to stay current. The 2015 seems to be following the latest styles and trends of the other car companies with this design and personally I like it.

My 09 GT is my second Mustang, first was an 06, V6 with Pony Package. Turbo4 will be the next one I buy unless it gets screwed up by Ford since the rumored power, weight, etc fit my needs in an autocross environment better than the full 5.0 does.

I'd be a first time Mustang owner. I used to love Mustangs, especially Fox bodies, but I wouldn't kill for one at this point. Basically, I have been driving a "boring" 2012 Kia Sportage Turbo for the last 2 years. It's not a terrible or terribly slow vehicle by any stretch, but it's just not a sports car. I'm looking at Mustangs mainly because I feel they have a better interior than the Camaro, plus I've had so many creaky, rattly GMs that I just don't trust the Camaro either. I also prefer the looks of the Mustang. For me, there is just no other sports cars that tickle my fancy that actually have a manual transmission and all the fun stuff, except for the C7 Corvette which just happens to fall outside of my budget. I plan on getting a 2015 because of the positive changes (newer therefore more refined, I hope, IRS, possibly more power, etc). After that, I'm thinking I'll probably sell the Mustang after the 5 year powertrain warranty is up, take that cash, plus some in the bank, and pick up a nice used C7 Vette which is what I ultimately want.

I'm not that surprised about all the first timers. This was what Ford was aiming for all along with this one. It's increase market share or die and that's what the I4, Europe, and (possibly) more European styling are all about. There's too much competition in the segment now to keep fighting for the same repeat customers.

This is my second Mustang. I owned an 06 GT that was passed down to a younger sibling. The main reason I'm looking at the S550 is it's really starting to feel dated to me. It's time to upgrade the internals of this car and spruce up the interior. Also after driving some of my buddy's smaller and lighter cars I really want one that handles better and even if not significantly lighter, one that feels more nimble when cornering.

My Mustang history is in my signature. I'll probably get the a SVT version at some point.

Wow definitely a good mix as I suspected. I'm glad to hear not alone here in being a first time Mustanger but it's clear theres still a lot of interest from hardcore vets.

I'm curious if anyone here remembers, was it like this in '04-05 for the S197 in terms of a lot of new interest from non-Mustang owners?

I'm assuming this time is different with it moving away from the retro/purist Mustang design, suspension, etc....

I dont know if I'd call myself a veteran but I love my '11 and have put a lot of miles and elbow grease into it.

I think the S197 really nailed what purists and old timer Mustang fans wanted. The S550 may lose some of those but I imagine it will more than make up for it in new owners, just like the 80's and 90's that strayed from the '65 mold. In time it'll become another Mustang classic like the Fox/SN95. Hated at first (and maybe still by some) but still every bit a Stang.

I have had my 69 for so many years that if I end up buying the 15 it will probably feel like I am a first time Mustang owner in many ways. All that modern tech, modern suspension and the major size differential will take some adjustment but I welcome the change.

I found this to be a funny thing about the S197. I drove a few GTs and rented a couple convertibles over the last few years, and while they seem to handle well (good cornering grip), they definitely have a feeling of heft and weight that does not truly inspire confidence. A loss of a few hundred pounds and possible better suspension dynamics with the IRS is a very welcome change on the S550 if it does happen (weight wise).

I had a 79 5.0 back when I was younger (and a love of Mustangs since my dad's '65). I've had practical cars for too long, and my kids are getting older. Time for another 5.0 (2015 GT, or 2014 GT if I'm not that into the 15, or the price point is moved up too much)...
