So today i received my first ticket unfortunately. An Lapd officer pulled me over and gave me a correctible violation cvc27151(a) modified exhaust ticket, and he didn’t really explain clearly what I should do next, so I am really lost and I have quite a few questions ...what should i do now? do i have to go to a shop and change the exhaust back to stock? where do i go to for the db test? The state referee or chp office or ?? And what should i do after getting it tested? Do i have to pay for the test? And do i have to pay for tge ticket? Also, do i have to go to the court??

thank you!

Up to you. Keep paying the violations, or quiet it down some. I can’t stand ridiculously loud exhausts anymore. It’s annoying.

First, I'm not sure a fourm is the best place to be asking those questions.
I'd suggest you call and ask the clerk of the court, or a lawyer friend or hire a lawyer. You want/need answers that are specific to the jurisdiction that issued the citation., not opinions from half the country...
If you recieved a ticket you likely have to go to court unless it's one that allows you to pay the fine on line.
Refer to suggestion above.
As for correction and the process, again, refer to suggestion above.

First question. Is your exhaust 50 state legal? If you have catless headers just pay the fine and move on. If your exhaust is 50 state legal fight the ticket.

Send Big Brother a thank you note. Fix the exhaust, you will be saving the planet, and as a bonus " it for the children."

This is the reason why I still have my stock exhaust. It takes about an hour to swap out.

IIRC, you are going to have to correct the problem and then take it to a referee station. Nice thing is that most of the referee stations are the auto shop programs at local community colleges. It's been said that you still have to pay a fine along with the fix. Gone are the days of fixing it and finding a cop to sign it off and be done with it. The links below are to a referee station locater and general explanation of the process. Good luck.

Move to another state, problem solved.

IMO, any State, County or Local PD pulling over people because of exhaust loudness is a total waste of such resources. Don’t they have anything better to do?

Time to move...

Since they mostly exist to generate revenue, no, they have nothing better to do...

Isn’t there contact information or a phone number on the ticket?
Call the number...

What exhaust system do you have?

As stated in the links above. Stock or CARB legal is the best bet with California.
