I've been going over buy a new vehicle for at least 6 months, whether to buy another F150 or a Mustang. After several close calls buying a F150 I decided to trade my 13 RSCB F150 5.0 for an 18 GT 301A, with the A10, Active exhaust, 3.55's & Black appearance package in Kona Blue. Dealer is giving me $17,500 for my trade which I paid $24K for new, and $5,000 off on the Mustang. They are getting it from another dealer. Let the good times roll......

Wow ! Only $6500 depreciation on a 5 year old vehicle ? That’s awesome. You’d think the depreciation was that much the day you bought it and drove it off the lot. Well done and congrats.

That is amazing on the trade, not often a vehicle has that sort of value retention. Trust me, the Mustang will not fair as well! Drive it like you stole it.

Wow well done. There are some substantial discounts on 2018's out there now.

Driving them like they are stolen is what I do best! Pic of the Lightning was a 130MPH burnout.

I am on the other side, but the trade value is too low (and the need is not 100%. Maybe 80%). Considering trading for a 250 or 350 Diesel to tow a 5th wheel and tour the country for some extended RV'ing. Just have to have the balls to quit work and settle for the pile of money I have.... The Walter Mitty in me is starting to show at 55.

Trade went well, minus the dealer trying to sneak a $799 Etch charge in there. Caught that right away. Finance mgr. says "oh yea, that shouldn't be there" and took it off. The ride home was fun! Even my wife loved it.

If you can do it, do it!! I'm an old fart as well and if I had the money we'd take our 40ft 5th wheel and hit the road!! Sadly, we don't have a huge stash of cash.

That is really, really a nice car and color combination. I had a similar experience on an F150 where I put 21K miles on a 2 year old F150 and traded it in for a 4500 loss. Really good deal. I think used pickups are just easier to sell once they have some depreciation in them. Although I bought all my Mustangs used and sold every one for more than I paid except for the mods. My current '15 will likely be an exception.
Again, love the color!

The fact that pricing keeps going up helps the value of low mileage vehicles too.

Wow, very little depreciation- I lost 11K on my 2017 Camaro (only 6K miles on it) in just one year that I traded in for by base 2018 GT. The A8 tranny in those is pure garbage. As long as the Stang starts, drives, shifts and stops like it supposed to while I drive it gently I'll be happy.
