You won't have any problem managing the steering while driving a stick. Just keep your hands on the steering wheel except for the moment when you shift. Don't drive around with your hand on the shift knob. I really recommend considering some HPDE training.

In my opinion, driving a stick gives me so much more engagement and control of the car than an auto does. But to each their own.

I have a 2016 automatic GT. I love it, I will say that there is a little lag in throttle response in the normal D mode but the sport mode S has amazing response and the paddle shifters are a lot of fun on some twisty back roads.

I went with automatic because I live in a hilly place that also has a ton of traffic. Plus my knees tend to ache quite often so I didn't want to mess with a clutch. I really considered getting a manual but glad I didn't.

In regards to the tail end of the car out....its not easy. This car is really not tail happy and I say that with the stock all season tires on. Take your time and learn the power output. Its really easy to manage.

I will say the wheel spin on a hard launch can be a pain sometimes haha

I know a 70 year old guy who has an auto... his first in a long time. He drove only stick most of his life. But his left knee has caused him a lot of pain lately, and he just had to make the switch. He was bummed about it, though.

Manuals are dying, there can be no doubt of that. But for me, that made it even more important to get a manual now and enjoy it while they were still offered, and still competitive (I won't lose to an auto 5.0 with similar mods if I'm on my game with shifting it).

Already, though, with the 6th gen Camaro, we see the 8 speed auto versions beating the 6 speed sticks. It'll happen with the Mustang by the next gen. maybe even in 2018.

My verdict? Buy manual while you still can.

Mannn if they remove manuals I’m going to be bummed. My plan was to get a new gen (s650) Mustang GT in MT when they come out, but if they don’t offer it in MT I will not get it. I actually considered a Dodge Charger before I got my Mustang only to find out those don’t come in MT. Hopefully they’ll have it around for a while longer, I’ve never enjoyed automatic cars since I started driving a manual and I couldn’t see myself going back to automatic until I got old and fragile. It’s that fun for me.

Unless you are flooring the gas pedal 100% of the time, you will not tell the difference in acceleration times between a manual and automatic.

I've actually felt the biggest difference between the 2 in light-moderate throttle applications around town. My statement about the auto being faster under heavy throttle was in response to dystopic's post above me and in that case I'd agree with you that the difference wouldn't be noticeable, unless that mt-82 locks your ass out of 3rd.
