Had a 2006 350Z 6-Speed a few years back, it was a huge pain in the ass driving through San Francisco hills during traffic times.

It did not help that I went to school up on a hill! And now I work on that hill!

So I sold it for a 2005 Scion TC automatic and my quality of life definitely improved! No more feeling anxious at hills where idiot drivers were right on my ass, or worrying about getting the tires spinning when going uphill from a stop in the rain.

I did test drive a manual WRX and briefly considered it, but then I just started feeling those same shitty feelings I felt on the hills, even with hill assist I didn't feel too secure.

So I bought an automatic GT.

Do I get shit from my friends? Yeah.

Do I care? Nope.

They have jobs that are 15 minutes away and don't even have to deal with traffic or hills as they do not live or work in any real hilly areas. If they hate my car so much for being an automatic then they can feel free to buy me a new one :)

The only thing I wish the auto had, was a button so ovoid rev without putting it in neutral (I think some Lamborghinis have this).

Is it bad to throw the car into neutral while driving to do a rev at 30mph? I'm afraid I'll accident ally put it in reverse.
Not really a brief moment wont cause any harm.

I mean why now OP? I would understand if you asked this question before your purchase, but to ask it now on a public forum you will get:

1. Autos suck
2. MT82 sucks
3. Paddle-shifters are the bees knees
4. Men drive sticks

Blah, blah, blah - get what you like and live with it, if not trade it for you want.

I care about infotainment
I test drove a manual pp before I drove the auto. The manual had no clutch feel. The shifting did not feel smooth. I have owned 3 cars with manuals. A 3,4, and 5 speed and non felt as bad as this 6 speed.

The auto is smooth but too soft on shifts. The shift time from reverse to first is too slow. Normal mode gets me excellent mpg to work and back. Sport + feels like the car should shift. I have not tried the track mode out much. Plus using the shift select and the paddles is fun.
The clutch assist spring is the culprit there. It's horrible. A lot of us have removed it and it's night and day difference in terms of feeling the engagement point and thus driving smoothly. It's the first mod any driver buying an S550 in manual should make.

Khyber, I think there is a small difference, at least. He invited other auto drivers to respond (implying intent to avoid us-vs-them bickering).

It could be he is doubting his choice, and is conducting his own Pros vs Cons survey. Who knows?
We can let the thread wander as it will. So far, there hasn't been any bickering or bashing.

No need for snarky posts, pictures of popcorn, etc, IMHO.

Ecoboost Auto checking in. Yea, my car is as controversial as it gets.

I bought an auto because I get enough leg workout on leg day.
Plus, auto is better anyways and people just can't adapt to innovation.

I am ordering my Ecoboost in auto because of city driving and my wife refuses to drive a stick.

All of my Mustangs have been automatics , both NA and supercharged. For city driving where i am located , a manual is not my preference....................:headbang::ford:

I also like the sound of auto shifting. That smooth rev change no gap in exhaust sound.
