Feedback on suggested system

Hi, all. I have a 2016 GT Premium/PP (401A), and I'm looking to upgrade the audio system. (I know, why did I bother getting the 401A, right?!)

A local car audio has suggested the following system. I'd like to get your feedback on ways to keep a nice, kickass sounding system without breaking the bank. (This recommended package is nearly $4,000, which seems outrageous to me. I'd expected something closer to $2K, max.)

Here's what they suggested
JL Audio 6.5" 3-wa7, 65-653 (Evolution)
JL Audio 62-650X Evolution for the back
Alpine PDX-V9 amp for speakers, subwoofer
Audio Control LC7I line level converter
Kicker 41L7104 subwoofer
Custom box, wiring, carpet, installation
4-year extended warranty

Don't feel bad. I have the 400A system and got a quote of over 5K for a complete system upgrade! I ended up having them do just a JL Stealthbox subwoofer install with a 600 watt sub amp. This still cost me $1600. but they did an awesome job and I'm happy with the results. See my post below.

I've gotten a few quotes from stereo shops to completely upgrade. Most of the quotes have been $2000-2500. This was a complete upgrade all six speakers, amps, and sub. I didn't do JL though. They are very expensive. I was looking at kicker all the way around one quote and Rockford on another. I'm sure you could cut that quote in half changing out all the complete to a different brand.

Well went into my buddys shop. Getting all Rockford all the way around. 6.5" components up front and 3 way 6.5 in the rear. Rockford 250x4 for the speakers, 750 mono block and 12" Rockford P3. Everything installed for $1000. They are mounting the amps in spare tire well since I don't have a spare.

I went to another shop for a second opinion, and according to their installer, the 401A system will not work correctly with the Audio Control LC7I line level converter. I kind of got lost in his tech speak, but it was something about the fact that the LC7 wouldn't really send a proper separate signal to each speaker..He said that if I used the LC7, I would wind up needing a separate one for every speaker for it to work right. He said that if I used only a single LC7, it would send the wrong signals to the various speakers.

He said I actually need something like an Audison AP8.9 (which also has an amplifier built in). Does this make sense to you guys?

It probably does. It's the most expensive way to do it though. Probably adding another $500+ to the install. They used line out converters on mine. 3 total. 2 for the 4 channel and 1 for the mono. They put it all behind the headunit. They did run speaker wires from the head unit back to the 4 channel though. But that was all run under the carpets and stuff so I can't see it. From the inside of the car it all looks stock. My amps are in the spare tire so except for the sub you couldn't tell anything was added
