2016 Mustang 5.0 arriving in septemebr
With the laws getting strict in dubai and implementing crazy fines like 27000$ for street racing and 3000$ for driving a modified vehicle, i wouldn't wanna risk it big time lol so i was wondering if the stock resonator is restrictive or not?

i was planning on doing Kooks LT with no cats and a corsa touring axle-back keeping the factory resonator in place.

On an otherwise stock car, removing the resonator is only worth like 2-4 hp, so its a very minor restriction.

Its got a bigger impact on cutting down on rasp and volume.

I don't know what the inside of the resonator looks like, but one time on an old car I had, the catalytic converter was clogged up. Since I had to have it to pass yearly inspection I used a screwdriver and broke up all the insides and dumped it out. Then I put it back in place and it never failed inspection.

I'd replace the factory one with the Borla resonator or Magnaflow TruX dual in/out muffler. Less restriction, less weight and better sound with either.

I doubt it's worth any power gains, and it is straight through, I've checked. It just necks down inside to 2 relatively small tubes. 2.25 I think (similar to the neck down further up stream)
Lot's of speculation, but I've yet to see anyone show actual gains in a controlled test, even 2-4hp like mentioned above (which would be very hard to actually prove since 2hp is often a variation between runs on the dyno)

We tested the resonator vs resonator delete several different ways and the delete isn't worth anything for power, only sound and small savings in weight.

I running SW long tube headers with cats into stock resonator with Ford Performance touring exhaust. At idel or steady cruising slightly louder then stock, get on it and it has a nice bark!
It is the perfect balance of sound for a old guy.
