With all else stock you're just swapping one resonator for another. Minimal change in sound. Why not leave it stock if you want a resonator or drop it for an H or X ?Has anyone tried the Borla 60661 resonator on a stock 2018+ GT with a factory active exhaust system? Looking for sound clips.
I got the idea from the gen 3 coyote Dyno numbers thread where the above user implied that the bulk of the gains in the exhaust system besides removing the cats, come from replacing the mid pipe. However, I'm not looking for an unresonated mid pipe as that would be too loud. According to this user the Borla 60661 resonator flows significantly better than the stock mid pipe, it is materially lighter than the stock unit, and it's not expensive to buy.As a bit of a side note here ... I recently did a before/after test w/a Borla exhaust system (140745) on my 2019 GT. While the system comes w/the X-pipe, I did not care for the upper RPM sound so I installed the Borla resonator (60661) before taking the 2nd reading. With the OE system, the best reading was 426 HP. With the Borla + resonator, the best reading was 443 hp. The published figures are all over the place regarding the exact HP loss w/the resonator v. the X-pipe, but it's safe to say that I did sacrifice some HP by opting out of the X-pipe. In hindsight, I learned two (2) things: 1) the 2019 OE system is pretty darn good w/the major 'drawback' (in terms of HP) being the pre-muffler, not the rear mufflers & 2) if I knew then what I know now, I would have merely replaced the OE pre-muffler w/the Borla resonator (60661).
Gotcha. Cat delete will net you a good deal more. But the resonator might get you a couple and save a few lbs.I got the idea from the gen 3 coyote Dyno numbers thread where the above user implied that the bulk of the gains in the exhaust system besides removing the cats, come from replacing the mid pipe. You’ll like the 60661.I'm not looking for an unresonated mid pipe as that would be too loud.
Does it have fiberglass packing? You’ll like the 60661.
It has an internal H-style crossover.
Just be aware it’s not a true 3.00” through design.
Factory connect @ 2.25”
Internal perforated 2.50”
Outlet connections 3.00” (expanded to slip over 3.00” O.D. tubing.
It is a fiber packed case. What materials I can’t answer. Could be ceramic fiber, fiberglass and even some stainless wool.Does it have fiberglass packing?
I was thinking to get the below for my Kooks catback install. I'm not using the H-pipe since I want a resonator. The stock resonator is packed. It think the below might not have packing. If the 60661 has packing and the below doesn't, I'm going to try to use the 60661. My Kooks catback pipes are 3" so 60661 is probably better! It is a fiber packed case. What materials I can’t answer. Ford Perf. resonator by Borla is an open chamber case design. There is no packing material in the Ford Perf. resonator….I was thinking to get the below for my Kooks catback install. I'm thinking the packed 60661 is the way to go then. I greatly appreciate your comments.Ford Perf. resonator by Borla is an open chamber case design. There is no packing material in the Ford Perf. resonator….
