I asked my dealer on Friday about the F5 satnav card as mine came with an F4. He said he'd only been told about the F5 card today and that if I wanted one it would be £79 inc vat

Does anybody know when the F5 cards came out? I think it's a bit rich asking me to buy one for a car that is only a few weeks old really...

When I collected my car yesterday (23rd) the F5 card was already in the SD slot inside the arm rest.

I suspect that the car is issued with the version that is available at the time - and we have to cough up for updates unfortunately :(

They've been on eBay since Dec at least. I bought one for my Mondeo (sealed dealer stock as far as I can tell).

On the upside, future updates at £79 compares well with the so called quality brands.

Indeed. Audi wanted over £250 to update the maps. I'm forever driving across fields according to my sat nav now where new roads have been built :headbonk:

Guildford changed my F4 for an F5 on request.

I said brand new car should have the latest update and F5 has been around for a bit.

I asked Think Ford - Guildford to upgrade my Navigation SD card from F4 to F5 and they just did it.

Pop the SD card out of the slot located inside the storage compartment
of the vehicle's center [sic] console and it says F4 or F5 on the card.

Seems to be a bit of a lottery again what card you get unless there was a cut off date for the F4 card, ford arent helping by charging some folk and some getting it free. Hopefully someone at ford can clear this one up soon for us

I think someone mentioned that there's a 'latest maps' (at the point you pick the car up I presume) promise of some description, so you should be able to argue the point?

Much like buying a phone, or any electronic device, the latest software should be installed in the device before you pick it up. Could you imagine buying an iphone with Ios.5 on it?

Can't imagine buying an iPhone...
With something as easily changeable as an SD card there's no excuse really for supplying an outdated version other than having old stock available. Most buyers aren't on the forums and won't realise whats latest and what's not.

They must have old stock at the factory, given when the cars were supposed to be built.

SteveS me either, but thought i'd go the generic route, basically picking up any phone, game console, piece of electrical equipment that required software and being told when you open it 'Its out of date, please update'

Nav Cards are part of PDI? They put it in along with (apparently) updating the software on the sync system to UK standards, check the car over and all its setting etc?

Or am I way off on that?
j-rowe14 can you confirm?
