Hello,

For what seems like ages I have been researching tires for my new wheel setup. I’m running a 19x10 square w/ a 275/40/19 all around. IMO this is the best bang for your buck road course tire size, especially for street/HPDE mixed use and novice/intermediate skills.

I’m currently on PS4S tires and love them for the performance:durability ratio they offer. However, I have been researching alternatives and keep landing on the Goodyear Eagle F1 SC3.

Basically I currently need 2 tires, for 2 PS4S I’m looking at~$850. I know these perform well and last. I can get 4 F1SC3 for~$1250. That’s 2 more tires for the cost of 1 PS4S.

My question is, does the cost savings on SC3 justify them or is the PS4S going to outlast them by far? I know these are in 2 different categories/tread wears.

Interesting article, I just went thru some trial/error recently with the same decision - ended up going back to MPSS (Just my preference over 4S) - Both great tires (If you have USAA/Goodyear has a discount) - and yes the cost of Michelins is equal to a couple airline tickets somewhere fun to keep the wife happy. My comparisons were accomplished with a GT, 350, GT4. Michelins spoil you after awhile…..Good Luck in your research!

The ps4s last worse. The sc3 handle much better. With USAA you can get a set for 20-30% off.

do you have any data you might base that off of? I have a very good source who runs PS4S on his C7 and got a few thousand miles plus around 20 sessions at different road courses. Mind you he’s not racing but runs very respectable times at each track in the advanced class.

I just don’t want to buy the SC3 and end up buying 2 sets when I could’ve bought 1 set of PS4S for the same amount of use. If that were the case (I’m not saying PS4S will last that long, just making a point).

there's a few people here who have tried to track PS4S and then switch to SC3 and get much better handling and longevity out of them. The SC3 are more 'sharp' and have better feedback to boot. When you can buy a set of SC3 for $850 delivered and mounted it's not a major financial undertaking in any event.
