Cruising around in city traffic for an hour sees IATs up to 140 degrees F with a outside temp of 86. The car loses a lot of power in first gear on initial take off in these conditions.

My car is stock with the exception of Suspension at this stage, but I have noticed that the Australian models don't have hood vents. This seems ludicrous in our climate, so I don't understand the reason for the deletion.

My idea at this stage is to get a US GT Hood with vents to help when stationery, and a more open grill for when on the move.

Thoughts? Other ideas?

Drill out the portion of the grill where it gets airflow.

Have you tried doing a hood delete?

l realize you're talking IAT's but l would still look at options for getting some of that underhood engine heat out.

Absolutely. I am assuming that the IATs are totally caused by the under hood temp, given the difference to ambient temp.

Thankfully the only effect seems to be IAT, no change to other temps thus far.

Also, thought maybe a Roush hood scoop with slots in the middle rear of the hood under the scoop. Although I am not too keen to change the appearance to much.

Same here. I'm not one to add items like scoops or spoilers especially if they won't serve a functional purpose. Now in your case you have a functional need and want this improvement to show results and still look good for you. This makes choosing a solution somewhat challenging to say the least but l think (as you mentioned) going with a Roush scoop and make it function to extract that power robbing heat it might be a good choice.
lt goes without saying that if you had a inexpensive spare hood to source like we can find here stateside it could give you the ability play around with other venting solutions without cutting up your factory hood.

As a fellow Aussie I'm very interested to hear how you resolve this.
I've contacted a few of the aftermarket guys to see if they have any interest in manufacturing something for, like, you know, THE REST OF THE WORLD!!
Not sure that any of them quite grasped the scale of the potential market.
Steeda did suggest that they may have something in the wings.
Might be worth having a chat with them?

Velossa Tech Design has a velocity stack that fits right in behind the front bumper that should help, especially if you carve out some of the honeycomb in the grill. VelossaTech

Also look at insulating the intake tract and box, it should help keep the air cooler coming through from the engines heat.

Do your hoods have the vents in them from the factory like ours?

We can see those same IAT numbers in traffic here in the US with the hood vents.

I wonder if ceramic coated headers might kill two birds?
The ambient temp you're talking about is only 30 degrees. Where I live, it's regularly in the 40's during summer (110 - 120 for you other guys) IAT would be eleventeenhundredmillion.

No hood vents in Aus. Weird.

This Trucarbon hood is tastefully done, but it is fibreglass.
