Hey guys,

My S550 came with an Anderson Composites CF hood and an unknown brand CF trunk lid + spoiler.

The trunk lid has the worst gap issue I’ve ever seen on a car. I’ve adjusted every single bolt discussed on the forums… and I can’t get the gap down to less than 1/4.”

I’ve adjusted all bolts on the hinge (circled), tried removing all rubber bump stops on the hinge, and on the trunk lid itself. Tried adjusting the latch mechanism on both top and bottom sides.

I’ve tried removing the water seal entirely, didn’t help. The gap is so bad, you can literally see the carpeting inside, from the outside.

Any ideas? Could this be an eBay brand trunk with no QA/QC? It hasn’t caused me any issues other than slight embarrassment… but I hate looking at it.

What would you do?

Not to trash your car, but that trunk lid looks terrible. Before chucking it in the trash, I'd try taking it to a body shop to see if they could do anything with it. If they cannot do anything more, I'd replace. There has to be water intrusion problems.

Totally agree. It ruins the look of the car.

If you take the trunk off and rest it on the the car does it sit flush? Only thing I can think of quickly is that the holes were drilled way off and the the bracket is just not allowing it to shut

With brackets removed and the lid just resting, there is still a gap.

Aftermarket parts will never have OEM fitment. If the gap is huge like more than 1/4" it's probably just a cheap part. Might want to just start over anyways because you'll never be quite happy with it.

No way is that going to be made to fit. Looks like trash.

Why did you buy it like that?

Car was well below market and spec’d exactly how I wanted (GT Premium, PP1, blacked out package, wheels, CF hood) at $20k out the door. Sometimes I learn the hard way 🤷🏻‍♂️

Buy a new trunk lid. There is some here to sell and I saw some on e-bay. Don't loose your time and effort on this one. It won't ever fit. The gap is way too important.

I spotted the other pictures you posted and didn’t say anything, but now you have posted about the CF fitment …

Also check your hood adjustment at the front edge - in the other photos I thought the hood wasn’t closed properly :frown:

Hope you get everything adjusted / sorted :like:

I’ll take a look at the hood fitment… thanks for the poke, lol. I’ve been too frustrated with the trunk to worry about it. Hood adjustment isn’t too difficult.
