Hi all. I'm the same guy who started the insurance topic here on the sight and I have another question I am trying to feel out here.

When I came home and told my significant other I ordered my GT350 yesterday and talked final sales numbers with the salesman, she asked me about any extended warranty. I said we did not talk about that, but I guess it's on the table in the future.

When she bought her '15 GT she bought an extended warranty that cost $2500 and goes up to 70k miles or 7 years (I think). Anyway, just wondering about this for the GT350. DO you think they will jack the price up on it? Probably, huh? Is it worth it? I was told by Nationwide another reason why they did not want to insure it because the parts are so rare so I wonder if that is a good enough reason as any to invest in an extended warranty at time of final purchase.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks!

If its a keeper, then no harm in the extended warranty as you amortize the cost over 7 years. This is a complex beast, and major drive line repairs will be expensive.

Just a piece of mind thing as these motors are new and who knows how they will hold up. I only keep cars a year or so, so I know I do not need it.......Steve

Good point about the motor being new. I just hope they don't jack this policy up. I don't want to say I remorse for ordering one, but definitely second guessing myself as to what the hell am I doing. I never spend money like this. LOL.

I am not buying a GT350 but if I were, extended warranty for sure. I got a 7/100k with first day rental, light coverage and $50 deductible for $1500 on my 46k 2015GTPP.

There must be some reason you want one beyond the cost. If you love cars, then this one is going to be killer good and I have had a lot of cars (Average 1-2 new per year). You live once and then its game over.

Will you regret saving the money more than buying the car is up to you........Steve

The warranty is prorated through Ford. So you can always get back your money if you decide to sell. Make sure you go for premiumcare, $0det.

That's why I'm in this situation Steve :-) I could die tomorrow and I've been obsessed with this car ever since I drooled over it at the auto show. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Hell yeah! My daily driver, a black 2006 GT will have to sit outside now :-(

That is a phenomenal deal! My gf paid $2500 for hers and is a $100 deductible. Sounds like she got taken.

I normally don't believe in extended warranties and have never purchased one, but if I were getting a '15 or '16 gt350 I would, because of the new voodoo as the others have said. I plan on getting a '17, hoping they have all the bugs worked out (or at least identified) by then.

edit: I'm in Driftwood, hope you get yours soon so I can check it out!!

I think if any major problems arise they will show themselves in the first 3 years. Remember it also comes with the 5 year 60k mile powertrain warranty. Remember you are alreay $2,500 into warranty work immediatley when you purchase the extended warranty. That means you have to have that much work done before you break even. When you consider that I think it is not worth it. I decided to go without the extended warrranty. Cheers

And I'm guessing trying to get power train warranty work done on this car will be like trying to get blood from a turnip. I hope I'm wrong.

I absolutey understand that it's a new motor and new level of tech for ford, but I don't think I'll be buying the expended warranty as I typically put about 12k miles per year on my cars and the stock powertrain warranty is 60k miles. So realistically for me 70k miles is only a few more months. I suspect if the engine has a systemic issue it will rear it's head earlier than 60k.

Perhaps my logic is flawed, but that is where I land on the debate at this point.
