This has been discussed on other threads, I figured I'd give it it's own topic.

As many of you know, there is a pony molded into the underside of all of our hoods. Rather than just remove the entire hood insulation, I decided to cut out an oval.
I don't have a before pic, so just look under you hood.
Remove the insulator and on the back there is an exact ridge where you can cut that perfectly frames the logo. Cut with a utility knife and reinstall.
The edges will be rough, so I masked it off and hit it with a shot of undercoating. Would have been easier if I did it while it was off the car........

Masked and sprayed

Finished product

Ill do some sort of trim to clean the edges.
Notice the holes on the upper part of the oval, as if it was meant for something......
Also, the spacing of the attaching clips would indicate it was made for this mod.

Mods, can you move this to the general forum?
It's not just an eco boost thing.

The pony in the hood is so if you have snow on the car, the pony will melt the snow making the pony show on the top in melted snow

Ok, if that was the intention, it was done upside down.

I'd consider that pony an easter egg and leave it alone. Lol.

I wouldn't even consider living where it SNOWED,NO snow in South Florida, and the Mustang isn"t put away either, for 6 months at a time.

I kinda like it, maybe paint the oval border and pony black, too.
Even better, you could paint just the space around the pony itself so the holes blend in. :ford:

Who??? The people that use it as a DD and enjoy driving theirs every day, LIKE ME!!:headbang:

An even better question, or one of equal value, is who would put such an awesome and daily driveable Mustang away because of snow and salt that can be washed off?

It's proper when behind the wheel and driving - the Pony will be facing the right way and in proper orientation.

I have yet to see that happen on my car, which stays outside all the time. I actually think the OP will now see it because heat can get through to the metal instead of being insulated by the hood blanket.

OP - it also is supposed to show up when you have a dew-covered surface and the heat comes into contact with that area.

Let us know what you see!

His car going up in flames when his fire suppression blanket drops with the big hole in the middle and it does nothing to stop the flames.
