I talked to a vendor and they thought the S and the Sport have a different sound. I've gotten more recommendations to do the S type for an otherwise stock system than the Touring. As long as it doesn't drone the volume level isn't really a huge deal. I'm after something deeper with a good tone. The stock sound is too subdued. It is so close to right but IMO lacks some deepness and good volume when you put the hammer down.
If you want a little more volume and deeper sound you might think about doing an H-Pipe resonator delete. I did this first and it sounded great. It makes the stock axle backs sound louder and deeper. But after that I still wanted a little more volume!

Next I tried a couple of axle backs with the H-Pipe and in both cases it was too loud for me and I had some drone. I ended up putting the Ford OEM resonator back on and stayed with Borla S-Type axle backs.

I think the Borla S-Type axle backs are not as deep sounding as some others, more mid-range yet louder than stock with H-Pipe. To me they have a great sound and do not drone.

I've heard a couple of clips with an X or H and stock mufflers and it just didn't sound right to me. kind of tinny at times. Might be different in person.

If it is a little deeper than the stock setup it would be good for me. I think some exhaust makers go with big diameter pipe to try and make their systems very deep, and it appeals to a certain crowd. There are limitations and drawbacks to that. Bigger pipe has a tendency to drone more, and a 5.0 will never sound like a 6.2 no matter what. Displacement makes a huge difference. Damping more helps to deepen sound, but dampen too much and the volume disappears. Very much a balancing act.
