Does anyone have any recommendations for good 3" exhaust clamps? The ones that came with my Kooks exhaust are okay, but I had two that snapped the bolt when I was tightening them. I have two spots where it's showing signs of an exhaust leak where the black carbon is building up at the connection points.

Try a band/lap joint clamp.

U bolt clams look like crap, but will work. The problem is they will crush your exhaust pipe in that spot and make removal and reinstallation a bitch.

I have an MBRP cat back and they came with those flat strap clamps that everybody uses now and they sucked. My exhaust wouldn't stay put because they wouldn't grip enough. I tried to tighten them more and all they did was snap the little wedge piece around the bolt. I picked up those U bolt claps and my exhaust hasn't moved at all. I didn't notice any issues or damage to my pipes with the U bolt clamps.

I grabbed some 3" flat strap kind from autozone. 500mi later and only a few feet from the headers, they're fine.

Yes. These work very well. The Ford Performance X-pipe or J&M X-pipe both come with this style clamp.
Not Necessarily. Like others, my clamps would not keep my cat back from rotating, making for some seriously shabby fitment issues. I'm going to bite the bullet and have the system welded up, as my next upgrade will be a full arh system anyway, but I would be able to sell off my used bits which is a bit of a drag.

Another option is to put them in place with the band clamps and use high temp silicone and let it set before driving. I've alsĂ´ used a small short screw through all 3 with some high temp silicone around it. Never moves and exhaust is still removable in pieces if needed.

How long should it set for?
