Excessive play in drivetrain during city driving

Hi all,
I have some annoying play in the GT 2021/35k km drivetrain, while accelerating- and de-acceleration (normal city traffic) sometimes accompanied with a “clunck”. Is this common for this kind of cars as i still have guarantee on the car and the garage probably say “its normal”. Any advise is appreciated.

No clunks from mine but i do get shifter noise at times at higher rpm if i let off and coast. Happened stock and with the MGW as well

Is your car an automatic or manual transmission? Is it stock? If not, what mods?
I would say a clunk is abnormal. Can you repeat the sound/condition at will?
Likely the only way you're going to isolate it is getting the wheels off the ground, climb under it and start wiggling, turning and tugging to see if you can locate the noise or any looseness.
Also, no matter what you think a dealer/mechanic may say, take the car in. It can be important to have a history or paper trail incase something gets worse later.

I've got a 2018 GT and it has a clunk when slowing down and gently coming to a stop. It doesn't do it very often, it's like sometimes the diff gets ahead of the drive shaft and then it catches up and clunk. If that makes sense. It's always done it, not got worse and the Freeplay in diff has always been the same. I had it checked at Ford when I first got the car. They always say that's normal.

The GT is a automatic 10 speed version, stock. I personally think the sound come from the gearbox shaft area. The play can be indeed from differential, Axel or gearbox shaft. Even the motor mounts could be a culprit. Ill bring it in at a independent garage fo a second opinion. Just wondering others have also a lot of play in drivetrain.

Yeah mine is a 10 speed also and it does feel/sound like it comes from the diff. I have fitted all the Steeda stop the hop bits including the red diff bush inserts and I wonder if these, makeing everything more solid, make the clunking sound worse.
Not sure.

If you had the noise previously, there is a fair chance of that. Often upgrading one part of the suspension may point to a pre-existing weak point elsewhere.

This sounds like either Diff or Tranny. Usually, the Isolator around the Driveshaft soaks up a bit of the harshness, but it could still be the Diff.
