Nitto NT05R's, MT Streets, and Toyo Proxy 888's seem to be the tires most recommend if you want more traction for higher HP than stock applications. I have used MT and they are better than a street tire. I have a set of NT05R's that I will be mounting when I get the Whipple installed. FWIW, I had Nitto 555G2's on my GT500 and they were only marginally better than the stock Goodyear F1's.
I had Nittos on my 2004 gt & they sucked. Looked good though.

Anxiously waiting to get car back. What rear tires do you all run? I'm going to keep the stock 19's on in rear but the Pirelli's prob won't hold.
I’ve had pretty good luck with the MT ET street ss at around 20-21 psi cold. But the more hp I get the less luck I have so I’ll be upgrading when I have money again to the R’s. I would say the MT ET street ss will suit you just fine.

I plan to go with MT ET Street SS as well. Seems to be a good option.

Kevin what factory wheel do you have?
I don't remember tire size. Its 19 9.5 in rear & 19 x 9 up front. Factory Cali Special Wheels.

Ok just wanted to make sure before I miss spoke. So you will have to go with the 285’s vs the 305’s then, because much like my stock wheels were they are only 9.5 in the rear. You will lose in inch of tire width but should still hold the power at proper psi until you decide to go up in power and then you will need to go different wheels and wider tire.

There's isn't any better than SS's or 555Rll's for the street on asphalt. R's work best on the dragstrip because of the thinner sidewall, and 5lbs less per tire over an SS. On the street however, having some tread grips the asphalt surface better during weight transfer.

Is that new? I swear the last time I checked they did not make them for anything larger than an 18. I will look into them. Thanks
Doug I had to double check before posting to make sure they made 20’s but I already knew they had 19’s because I had them before I dropped to the 17’s I currently have.

Wouldn't a 555r2 in a 275/40r19 be better than the 285/35r19 Mt street ss? You only sacrifice 10mm in width but gain about 3/4" in sidewall. Seems like a better option for straight line traction unless the mickeys are just that much better than the nittos?
