My 2021 Ecoboost automatic, 70k miles, has started running a bit.. odd… when you come to a stop light or put the car in gear with your foot on the brake..

It starts and idles just fine weather hot of cold, but once it warms up, and you put it in drive, the us a definite lumpyness to the idle. Put it in neutral or park, it goes back to idling perfect.

Voltage while operating ranges around 14.5 but, weirdly, it drops to around 13.5 when you get on it…. But my 23 bronco does the same thing…

(i say perfect.. but its a bit low rpm for my liking, but it idles smoothly.)

It just does the rough idle when it has a load on it.

I have already changed the fuel pressure sensor to the new -CA part number.

the battery seems to be at the end of its life… the car starts every-time, but resting voltage (ignition off) is like 12.2-3 volts after sitting overnight. It was 11.9 after sitting a couple months over the winter so it got a full charge before start up, but it doesn’t seem to be holding it.

No CEL, i need to go in and see if there are any non-trigger codes (thats how I found the fuel pressure sensor was not well, had a pressuer “b” code on the deep scan but no CEL.)

it has ALWAYS done a stumble thing, kinda violent and scary, When the fan kicks on and you are in gear and stopped…. Even after changing FP sensor and no codes whatsoever, But the rough idle is new.

Gonna change the battery just in case, cause i can’t fund a date on it…. So who knows!!

but, any tips beyond battery would be greatly appreciated.

Long-shot here, but look at all your vacuum lines and the intake tube from the filter/MAF to the throttle body. The intake tube clamp on my GT came loose at the TB and caused a similar issue. The tube looked like it was connected but it had worked it's way off of the TB and was sucking air through the loose connection.

check the purge valve, it has probably failed by now. disconnect the quick connect from the intake side just after the throttle body and cover the hole on the manifold. try out your two scenarios. i would guess the voltage difference is just a fuel economy thing.
