When pulling these engines from the S550 can I just disconnect the wiring harness from the Fuse box and the battery box and leave the wiring harness attached to the engine? Besides a couple of ground wires that should be it on the electrical side right? Then it's the usual, drain the coolant, disconnect the various vacuum hoses, undo the shift boot, disconnect the drive shaft, and fuel lines. Last motor I pulled a mustang was in my 2005 GT with the 4.6 3v. If I remember correctly I had to disconnect every freaking wire from the engine. leave the entire harness in the car. That sucked more than actually pulling the motor.
I am pulling the motor over the winter to upgrade the clutch, flywheel, throw in a short throw Barton (trans mounted) shifter. I already have BMR engine mounts installed. I have long tube headers installed, and oil pump gears sitting in a box waiting to go in. Is there anything while I have the motor out that I should think about adding to my to do list this winter. I live in IOWA, I am pulling the engine out and putting it in the basement for me to tinker with all winter and have her back in ready for boost when spring comes. I really want to do all the pain in the ass stuff while its out because I will have room to properly torque everything down and enjoy working on this thing as opposed to throwing wrenches, cussing on the garage floor and bitching about life in general.
