my 03 Cobra internals are stout and have held up with 12.5 psi. What do we know about cranks and rods for the 2020 GT500? Did Roush also work on this motor or was. It pure Ford performance?
The GT350's internals are even forged (not hypereutectic, actually forged). The GT500's will have to be. A hypereutectic rod for instance to take that much abuse would be very big and heavy.
Even the coyote has a forged crankshaft. The Gen 3 coyote also has sintered rods (stronger than cast but weaker than forged). I think I read somewhere the predator internals are forged but can’t recall the source. That said, the article you posted (which I’ve read previously and is very good) says:
“There were a number of significant changes with the crank, connecting rod, piston, block, head, head gaskets, all of the things that you would expect when you are setting up an engine handle 125 bar of firing pressure," Patrick said. "We start with specifying the engine firing pressure and what that pressure curve looks like, and we cascade that out throughout our engineering community. There are a number of a CAE analysis done on the block, crank, bottom-end, bearings, head gaskets and the heads. To make sure everything is capable of handling that kind of pressure.“
