Engine/Intake Cover - Ok to remove?

Is it okay to just remove the Engine/Intake cover? I know it help dampens the sound of the injectors, other than that would there be a problem to just pull it? Does the cabling on top of the motor need protecting? Considering just yanking it off if all it does is dampen some sound.

It's a vanity/noise damper. Pull it off if you want. Mine hasn't been on since forever.
Would you say it dampens the noise enough to really notice?

That's purely subjective. Take it off and see? My car is noisy, but I've gotten past that.

I pulled mine off the day I did my injectors and never put it back on, too bad the top of our engines look like crap. Would it have been so hard to give us a good looking valve cover?:shrug:
