I think Branden worded it pretty well with his post below. Some YouTube channels are a form of work for the people running them. It takes time to film and edit these things, especially doing so on a frequent basis. Time is money, and if he's taking time to make these things, and if he can convince a fraction of his fan base to donate some amount of money so that he can continue making vids that they're interested in, then that's just making the most of what he has.I... don't really get that it is. Totally with you on it being a bad thing for a kid to get a free car from his / her parents (although my grandfather gave me my first car for free, but that was a 22 year old Carolla), but I don't see getting money off a Youtube channel you make as any different from that kid who got $50 grand from Kickstarter to make potato salad.
I'm envious of the guy, but not to the point that what I think he's doing is wrong by any means. Anyone technically has an opportunity to pull this off.
This... I'm sure the amount of time required is equivalent to working at least a solid part time job. It's silly to think he just "put up a video and got a free car". Bloggers and Vloggers are building a "business", just like if they went to a bakery every day and made cakes. They are producing a product, and people are buying. Just like in any business, some will be successful, some won't, sometimes it's fair market forces, sometimes it's the right place at the right time.
There's your business 101 lesson for the day.![]()
