In my trunk I keep a costco insulated bag, for if I buy something frozen or cold a good distance from me, a stanley socket wrench toolkit, my Dead On Annihilator bar, breaker bar for if I need to change a tire since I can't fine the wrench that was supposed to come with the jack, and my .40 STI 1911 in my glove box. Tho I am thinking of mounting it under my steering wheel.

I guess I'll chime in on this. I really carry nothing in my car. I've always been that way. My trunk is empty except for the stuff Ford put there (spare tire, jack, etc.). My backseat is empty as well.
Currently I live in the suburbs and don't have a need for things on my daily commute. When I travel, that's a different story. But here, I have a credit card in my wallet, a cell phone in my pocket and a .45 XDs on my hip. That's all I need.

Agreed on that. Probably best to keep those discussions to the off-topic forum. I don't know anybody who owns a gun, and it's shocking to me to always see these people who can't go get a glass of water without bringing an arsenal with them.

Nah, I never drive my Mustang above 4/10ths anyway, so extra weight doesn't matter. I do need to do a better job tying things down, though, because they definitely go sliding around the trunk when I take turns.

I don't have mine yet so I don't know but in the trunk does it have any hooks to put a cargo net in to hold items?

I honestly haven't looked; the thought didn't really occur to me until this past weekend when a bottle of washer fluid got out of the box it was in (ripping it open in the process) and started rolling all around the trunk and smashing into things. I ended up having to pull over and take it out and put it in the back seat because I was afraid it was going to burst and spill all over everything. I'll be looking around in there this weekend to see about tiedown spots.

Got this one because it's compact (with all that stuff in my trunk, space is an issue) and got good reviews. Haven't had the chance to try it out, yet, and I do keep the jumper cables in the car in case it doesn't work:

Biggest problem in my mind is that keeping a jump starter or jumper cables in the trunk will make it a pain in the ass to actually get to them in the event I need to use them, since the trunk opening is completely electronic, and in order to get at it if I have a dead battery, I'll have to pull the back seats down, and try to reach through the gap behind the back seats to get at the inside hood release latch.

I used to keep a full-sized shovel with a 48 inch handle on it in my trunk to dig myself out of snow banks and ice enclosures and mud. It saved me a couple of times when I'd left the car parked, gone in someplace for a few hours, and an ensuing blizzard left me iced in to a parking spot I couldn't get out of, or when snowplows shoved a three foot high wall of ice up against the side of my car when I was street parked. But eventually I realized that that was just too bulky to carry around every day and switched to a collapsible trench shovel.
