So my eibach prokit springs just came in as I am at work. I was initially planning on doing it myself but due to the lack of place and tools, i was leaning towards getting it done at a shop.

The one shop I found is charging almost $400! Looks quite expensive. Does anyone know anybody who can do it/good shops in Austin/Houston TX that are more reasonable?

Much appreciated!

Call Autotek in South Austin and ask for Aaron. Family owned performance shop, been going there for almost 2 decades now. Tell him Chris with the gray Mustang referred you.

Thanks! I called him. He said they don't do springs but he referred me to another place called South 1st Performance Automotive. I
Called them and left a voice mail. Will let ya know when I hear back. Thanks once again!

It is really easy to install if you have a decent mechanic background. Someone on this forum would help I am sure. Good luck

I've worked on motorocycles and little bit on cars, nothing major but i think I could do it myself. Only problem is place and tools and it being cold outside :frusty:

You'll need spring compressors as well. Its not a technical job but it's a good 4 hour job for 1 person I'd guess and compressed springs can be a little scary to deal with. I did my 2013 GT's shocks/struts/springs/panhard in around 4 hours.

go look up a video on YouTube and see if you and a friend can do it. That's what I did it took about 3hours. I have very little experience with working on cars.

You don't need a lot of mechanical experience to perform this job. You will need a car jack, 2 jack stands, & a few sockets (electric impact from Lowe's works great). Just remember on the front suspension, the 2 lower strut bolts have splines. So loosen the nut and not the stud (bolt). The splines make it very challenging to turn the stud lol. Once I got both front coil overs removed from the car, I took them to a suspension shop that has a spring compressor to get the springs swapped out. I had to place a 2Ă—4 under the tires (front and rear) before lowering the car back down so my car jack wouldn't be stuck under the car. It really wasn't hard at all. CJ Pony Parts has two good videos on YouTube and their website.

$400 is actually a decent price considering the shops overhead. However, I would do it myself and use that $400 towards more parts.

How much did the shop charge you to swap out the springs?

I totally would do that if I knew anyone here in Austin. I recently moved here and have no friends yet haha :headbonk: I guess I might just spend some time, and do it myself :)

There's a place up north called DIYAustin and you can rent lifts and tools there for cheap. They also have mechanics on staff ready to help you if you need it for a small fee. That would be your best bet.
