One thing I really didn't like too much on my 13 GT was the MT82 tranny. It literally use to sound like a garbage truck in the lower rpm in 1st and 2nd gear but I was also one of those unlucky ones that got clunks and gears not going in correctly way more than usual. When I jumped back in a mustang and found out it still utilize the same MT82 I was aware that I might have the same issues but I was pleasantly surprised when the shifts felt sooo much better and I got zero clunks and no missed shifts yet. However, I'm noticing a lot of noise from this ecoboost engine. The best way to describe would be a diesel truck, especially on idle. This engine has some real nasty louder than expected diesel like noise. I just want to know if my other fellow ecoboost mustang guys are experiencing similar so I can have some comfort knowing this is normal.

That's probably just the direct injectors.
Yea I understand the DI make tons of noise but mine almost sound like there's no sound deadening material. It's literally about 5x louder than my ST which also has very similar engine. Maybe it's normal since I don't really feel anything wrong except for the noise but just wanted to hear what other ecoboost owners had to say.

Mods? This vehicle is usually very quiet at idle from the cabin. If you're outside, you'll be able to hear the ticking of the injectors for sure. Are you in a colder environment? That'll amplify the sound until the engine is warmed up.

Does the sound go away when you accelerate away? If you put the car in neutral and rev, does the sound still occur?

Completely stock. With all windows up and radio off in neutral I can def hear the engine. It's louder than I expected and it almost sound like the sound deadening material is not working. I hear the "clack clack clack clack" the same noise you hear outside when you have your hood up with engine running but inside my cabin. During acceleration it seem OK other than the low rpm tranny noise in 1st and 2nd that my 13 GT also had. I'm going to give it more time since my car is almost new with only 140 miles currently. After her break in and oil change I'll see if it get better but if not than I guess it's dealer time just to be sure.
