Calculated 32.8mpg last time I filled up, highway driving 60 miles for work every day. Cruise control at 72-73mph. Any town driving drops a tank down a lot though.

23.7 mpg after almost 20k miles mostly city driving, traded it for a PP GT and get about 19 mpg with that car

You literally have to drive like a grandma to get 30mpg. If you hit the turbo at all, you're looking at low 20's and if you drive it the way it's meant to be driven, you'll be getting 15mpg like me :frusty:

I wonder if I would still get 15mpg or worse if I drove a v8 in the same manner
I did pure city driving once and I had around 13mpg with my little v6. I think you are doing pretty good.

I did a 0-30 test in normal traffic it took 11.8 sec to reach 30mph. A second 0-30 test didn't even reach 30 before I hit the red light. 3rd test aborted due to traffic not moving.

9900 miles, 3 oil changes and still getting 12-14mpg consistently.

All city driving.
If you stop driving around in sport mode and maintain correct air in your tires you would get normal mpg.

Why do you insist on posting on mpg threads without disclosing that you drive around in sport mode and expect the dealership to maintain your tire pressure?

I get between 20-22 in all country, city driving short distances with a heavy foot. My wife gets 25 driving 40 miles round trip with mixed driving.

Round trip to Florida: average 34 mpg at 70-75 mph.

EB convertible with auto trans. I just got back from a round trip to Florida: 3100 miles. With 10-20 mph headwinds and 70 mph: 30-31 mpg. No winds: 75 mph: 34-35 mpg. 20+ mph tailwind and 75 mph: 37-39 mpg. Gentle mountain grades on Freeway: 30 mpg; 36-40 mpg on downgrades. City traffic: 30 mpg; stop-and-go: 22-25 mpg.
As per Popular Mechanics auto trans testing: no jack rabbit starts, just good accel up to highway speed to get into max gear as soon as possible.

I average about 22 "city". Mostly driving to work and back. It's about a 12-15 minute drive one way through 8 traffic lights and 4 stop signs. Lights are spaced probably 1/3 of a mile apart. I probably hit half the lights red on average. I got about 32 on my last highway trip. I drive in normal mode 95% of the time. 93 octane fuel (Shell v-power)

Mine is very sensitive to aggressive driving and/or city/hwy balance MPG. I now have the Ford Performance tune but am not sure I've lost much mpg when I keep my right foot out of the floor. Manual 3.31 gears FWIW. I also adjusted the mpg readout to read accurately per a DIY thread on this forum so these are real numbers, not just indicated.

Set cruise control conservatively at 60 mph on fairly level highway, and this thing gets an honest 36-38 mpg. Cruise control at more realistic 70 and it drops to 31 mpg; go 75 or over and it drops down to mid-to-high 20's.

Boost is the key, it makes a huge difference in mpg. Use the boost at all and it gets V8 mpg figures; down in the mid-to-high teens mpg in town if I play with it at all. My overall mpg since I have purchased the vehicle is a fraction over 25, driven at lifetime avg 34 mph consisting of (a wild guess) 75% hwy / 25% city driving.

PP manual (3.55 gears) and I usually average 23-24 mpg, mixed driving with more emphasis on city driving. Once on a trip to Socal I got about 28 mpg the whole way doing 75-80 on the freeway.

I sit at 25-26mpg for my 50 mile (round trip) daily commute to work and back. It's mostly 55mph zones with a lot of stop lights. I punch it at every light that I can. I regularly shift at 3000-3500rpm and like to cruise in the 2200-2500rpm range. I do not shift into 6th gear, ever, and I run 91 octane.

I did see 32mpg when driving up to Longmont a couple months ago. That was doing 85mph most of the way.
If you're doing 85mph in 5th gear you'd be well above 2500rpm.

So basically the difference in mpg between the 2.3 and the 5.0 is negligable. Maybe 1 or 2 more but thats it all basically a sales gimmick. I have averaged 21.9 mpg over 11,500 miles mixed 50/50 driving.
