detonation. My opinion of course. I really hope that they take care of it for you. If Ford did they would likely have a very dedicated customer, if they don't I imagine they will loose one.

The car was not tuned and they found no signs of a tune in the computer. Ford's official statement is warranty voided because of modifications. They are not pointing at any one thing, they are also not willing to come look at it to see if there was a possible defect. They're simply voiding the warranty because of mods in general. To all the people out there putting CAIs and tunes on theirs cars I hope you can afford a new motor. Unless you use a Roush CAI that is installed by an authorized dealership, you're voiding your warranty. I highly suggest you never take your car to the dealership with engine mods or tunes installed. Even if you go for an oil change or TSB notice your mods will be documented. Ford is cracking down and dealerships aren't in the business of getting burned on warranty claims.Even if the piston is defect, but since you have a tune which exceeds factory tolerated pressure to the piston which causes piston failure. I hardly can see why Ford would want to warrant this because it's pretty cut and dry.
Feel sorry you have to go through this. I mean I always think if its worth it having a little bit better performance but risking problems like this.
I know I answered your PM but also want to let everyone see the response. What octaine where u using and did u have the knob turned up to 100%, I also have boostmax and pedalmax.. But this is about to have me remove them.Do u think this happened as a result of those parts?
Had just shifted to 3rd gear. I was on the way to the dealership to get a leaking oil hose replaced. I've heard of people having an issue with the high gear low RMP and stomping on it. If you follow subaruwrxfan on YouTube he had that issue and I guess it turned out to be a hose clamp coming loose. I did mention that to the dealership once I heard about it but it was of course to late they had removed all the hoses and have no record of it being a problem. Thanks for responding and sorry that happened to you. Where you stomping on it when it blew.. Or by chance did you stomp on it while in 6 th gear in sport mode?

I wonder how much this is starting to point to that specific combo of MODS is really risky. You found the exact same case with the exact same out come, never one to believe in coincidences:doh:. I know I'm the new dumb ass around here but doesn't this really help further indicate that this issue is user error vs a Ford manufacturing defect of sorts?Latest Update:
I'm still gathering some data about other cases like mine with this engine. I'm not the first one to have this exact problem and I doubt I'll be the last. I'm waiting for authorization from another owner to release his info to me so I can present it to Ford. That person's motor blew the exact same way and he had the JMS modules and a CAI like me. Ford came out and visually inspected his engine (no tear down) and they honored the warranty for him.
There are also customers that had the same problem and had zero mods. I have contacts throughout the industry from aftermarket shops to other dealerships. I'm getting good data, just trying to get the proof on paper now.I wonder how much this is starting to point to that specific combo of MODS is really risky. I know whats important to you is the fact that this guy claims Ford replaced everything. Although do you really know that's true, there are a lot of malicious fcks that only admit what keeps them in a positive light.:gossip: Reminds me of all the gamblers I know that are always talking about how much they win and yet "why are you so brooooke!?"
Anyway, if the dealer truly has the main say if the warranty goes through-- shit, I would of met the mechanic at the local bar prior to all of it and gave him $500 to push the warranty card and forget about the MODS. Thats what living in Chicago teaches you, shady politics....addle:
When I say tuned I mean it's working outside factory specs. The BoostMAX is running the engine on higher boost which is outside factory specs. The car was not tuned and they found no signs of a tune in the computer. Gotcha ya. Needless to say the BoostMax and PedalMax will not be hooked up when I get the car back. The only engine mod will be the Roush CAI installed by the dealership and not voiding the new warranty. I'll be doing some handling mods and visual stuff only once I pay off the credit card this engine is going on.When I say tuned I mean it's working outside factory specs. Those would be the people I would gather information from first, not the dude with the MODS that blew his engine too. Although I feel like your going to be spending a lot of frustrating time trying to fight a billion dollar corp when your already putting up the money to replace the engine, if you had more time to wait it out, maybe but once they have your money, IME its going to be that much harder to re-coupe.There are also customers that had the same problem and had zero mods.
I wouldn't even waste the money on this CAI or any CAI. The gains they are claiming are just out right ludicrous! Talk to real experienced performace junkies and they laugh at CAI's to add noticeable power. Again, the new guy around here but I spent like a week researching them and concluded they are truly snake oil for performance (actually can degrade performance a lil) without more dynamic parts and a tune to make use of the better air flow its not a good choice... Your not stupid enough to get a tune at this point. :frusty: and you know Ford if they decide can void your warranty even with the Roush turd, so why risk it?! Buy some nice 20's and call it a day until there more on less risky ways to actually add power to this platform. Here is what you have to consider, if you, knew what you knew now, you would of never added the first MODS, so just know that you still don't know enough about mods to really determine the risk.Gotcha ya.
