All these blown Ecoboost are starting the scare the shit outta me (LMS tuned over here). Time to trade in for a GT maybe? LOL
LOL, yep exactly what I was thinking.. worked some numbers and I'm like 4-5k negative so going to have to wait awhile. The new Mach 1 and hopefully a refresh in 18 is what I'm waiting to see.. Would love to see more HP from the GT tho..

I love the EB.. but to make it "fast enough" really means having to void the warranty.. That's fine if the engine was RELIABLE

Should have got the GT to begin with but no point in crying over spilled milk.. 2018 GT please have a performance refresh!

I bought into the whole ford ecoboost platform with their "forged" internals and whatnot as a tuner friendly platform. But it doesn't seem like this isn't how it is playing out....
Seriously right? One reason why I got the car!! The only savior is the Ford racing tuner that can bump it up with a warranty.. Not holding my breath tho.

1. The whole point of the EB is because it's mod friendly but it has it's share of issues.

2. The whole point of a new car is the warranty in case some ish happens (Sorry I don't really have 10k sitting around in case an engine blows)

Yes, we maybe overeating a bit here but you know, it's better to be safe than sorry.

yeah, after my experience with my WRX, i'm never modding a car again. even though it never actually had any issues, i was always worried, because my friends who had the same mods as me kept blowing up their engines.

in the end i was lucky and the car held up to 80k miles when i sold it.

after i got my mustang, 3 of them also jumped ship and got themselves a 16 GT, camaro ZL1 and a Scat Pack Charger, LOL.

I hear that.. My EB is a lease and I just want to buy a great performance car.. sorry, I LOVE fast cars :headbonk: Thought I can make the EB fast with it comes with too much of a risk so I left it alone. No way I can own this car unless the FFRP tuner really makes it that fast.. which I doubted. Plus, the sound of a V8 is PRICELESS.

Hopefully in 6-7 months I can get rid of the EB and plan on a 2016/17 GT or 2016 Camaro SS.. Once I get the V8's which is fast enough I'll only put on bolt on mods that don't void the warranty..

if you get a SS camaro you prob wont even need any bolt ons. you have the option of getting the dual mode exhaust from the factory.

the only mods I need are tint and exhaust, LOL.

Whatever you do, careful with the loud exhaust like Corsa extreme.. they are badass but you might be flirting with fixing tickets from cops :frusty:

Yeah I love both Mustang and Camaro but the new Camaro's are not budging from MSRP.. might have to wait..

I feel for all EB owners with a Tune.. I wanted a tune so bad but I knew it will come with a big risk.

If you are tuned, IMO I would put it back to stock just to be on the safe side if you don't have money in case something catastrophic happens. But the damage has been done...

So.. trade it in or get Ford racing tuner when it comes out

Guys relax. 3 cars (!) out of hundreds means nothing. Just follow the basic rules for turbo cars, get a quality tune and follow some common sense. Chances are very good that your car will be fine for a very long time. Seriously, you are making too big of a deal out of this.

I have an H-pipe and Pype's muffler deletes and everytime I see a cop I practically bog the car

I go down my neighborhood at a snail's pace, 3rd gear 1,100 RPM...

Pretty sure Joe has a quality tune, supporting mods and what not . only other issue is probably LSPI. Other than that just sounds like the stock block has issues to me.

Sounds like his stock block has / had issues. You can not make a general assumption out of one case.

What blown Ecoboost engines are you referring to? And what "issues with the stock block" are you referencing?

Almost all failures on this forum have been on tuned vehicles. Any other failures are extremely few and far between, it's not like it's a "common" problem whatsoever.

Amazing how easily things get blown out of proportion. Go enjoy your car and stop worrying about the fraction of a percentage of vehicles that had a manufacturing defect. Not to mention the fact that you're covered by a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty, so as long as you don't induce a failure with an aftermarket modification, every part of your powertrain is warrantied.
