The main reason I say this is because I used to work at a gas station and nearly all gas station tank end up having some water build in tanks from getting fuel delivery in the rain to the seals around the ground tank starting to age which is normal to fractions of a percent and legal u r allowed to because it happens naturally. If u dont believe me and know someone that owns a gas station ask them to print a reading from their gas station tanks. So with that being said the 87 octane you use end up being franctions lower than 87 probably aroung 86.8 or so. Another thing is most gas stations do not put the same amount of performance boosting (detergent type) chemicals in each octane level. usually less in lower octane. This ends up effecting longevity. Usually the best 2 gas stations tend to be BP and shell and the worst with no chemicals being Hess
Thanks for the details but as long as the gas for the accepted octanes is up to spec, within a certain tolerance as you mentioned, it still won't hurt the engine.

Newer cars have advanced ECU's and sensors. Even if the octane rating dropped significantly below what it is rated at, the computer will still adjust for it. The car may run like crap, but no harm will come.

Full tank at purchase?

How much gas is usually in the tank at time of delivery?
I was hoping to fill the tank first time myself with 93 Octane.
Do the dealers always charge for the first gas fill?

^ The dealers I've dealt with give you a courtesy fill.

What car did you drive before this? Just curious. I haven't driven the 2015 GT yet but every time a floor my 2011 GT its a grin maker. I hope I'm not disappointed as well.
You're going to be happy. I came from a '14 GT500, and while I loved the new interior as well as the improved handling, the power was initially underwhelming.

It's gotten better. Either I've just gotten used to it or there is indeed a "wake up period", but it does seem to be pulling much harder now at 1,300 miles than it did initially. It isn't the torque monster that the Shelby was, but it's no slouch either. It's certainly easier to hook up and put the power to the ground with the GT than it was the Shelby.
